F-22 Lightning 3 multiplayer

Hello, I'm an old fan of F22L3, and purchased the game when I see it in Steam. But I see that some files of the game are wrong, preventing it from connecting to novaworld, the multiplayer server. The game executable is updated (version 1.00.01.04), and is connecting to the correct server (nw2.novaworld.net), but the files browser.htm and startup.htm, at the folder of the game, are outdated, and connecting to the old F22L3novaworld server (novaworld.net). The update aplication from novalogic NLExePatcher.exe won't update these 2 files (probably because the application L3.EXE is already updated). It's possible to fix it editing these files with notepad and at the 3rd line, replace the text http://novaworld.net/l3kuslogin1b.htm with http://nw2.novaworld.net/l3kuslogin1b.htm , then the multiplayer will work. Novalogic could fix this issue, updating these 2 files from steam servers.

Update: Looks like Novalogic forwarded http://novaworld.net/l3kuslogin1b.htm to http://nw2.novaworld.net/l3kuslogin1b.htm, so all the versions may be working. Untill today I haven't noticed.

Hi Gagant, I also played this game 10 years ago. Had alot of fun flying online with my Squad Ultimate Xtreme. I am in the process of setting up a website to see if I can get people playing online again. It is quite a complicated process to update the old files but I have managed to access the Nova server. Nova don't host games but people can host their own so I intend to start hosting games to see if the old Squads will play again.

Hi, after many hours I have got online to host and play games. Here is the method:

If you have installed the game then you need to uninstall the game and delete the NovaLogic folder under Program Files to ensure all previous game files are removed. Now close down and re-start your PC.

Install the game from the disc.

Download this patch:
{Ο ΣΥΝΔΕΣΜΟΣ ΑΦΑΙΡΕΘΗΚΕ}http://novalogic.com/download/nlexepatcher.html
Now ensure the game is not running and double click the downloaded patch file, this will change 4 files.

Now you need to open this game folder on your PC:
Program Files/NovaLogic/F-22 Lightning 3
Inside this folder there are 2 files called "browser.htm" and "startup.htm". RIGHT click each one in turn and select "Open with Notepad". Now change the URL on the third line of each file to this URL:
{Ο ΣΥΝΔΕΣΜΟΣ ΑΦΑΙΡΕΘΗΚΕ}http://nw2.novaworld.net/l3kuslogin1b.htm

You now need to instruct your Router/Firewall to Port Forward the following Ports:
4533, 4534

BEWARE - There is an update file (0616999) on the Nova website but DO NOT use it if you want to play online as it will stop you from connecting to the Nova server. Also, the "Update" button in the game Menu does not work so don't waste your time clicking it.

That's it, all done. You can now host games and play online just like the good old days!

I liked the F22L3 as well, and still have a copy of it. But I wish that Novalogic would update some of the games so they'd play on the newer op systems. I'm sure they'd be able to sell more games. I never did get to play multiplayer back then because I didn't have an internet service at the time, but will be attempting.
