In my eyes early access isn't all about, having content and playability.
It is much much more.
It is being involved with something that hasn't even really begun to form into its own being.
This is very much exciting on many levels to me.
The community helps mold the project. Over time the project doesn't even look like it did when it first started.
Patience is a virtue.
We've definitely not given up. We're still hard at work. I know it's hard to trust Early Access games sometimes though, so I can understand the trepidation.
Here's what's been happening lately:
We showed Valve the work we've done with Metaverse, and told them we were extremely interested in working on VR. Valve was kind enough to send us an HTC Vive, and a lot of what we've been doing lately is on the VR side of things. Since Metaverse is a large project, we decided to get our VR toes wet with Metaverse Construction Kit. It has full support for the Vive (you can see a VR video on its store page).
Metaverse itself actually has some undocumented VR support right now, but it's very limited. We want to make the Metaverse VR experience solid, and we really think it'll be an amazing thing when it's finished.
We've also been working on another early VR project. Everyone who owns Metaverse will get it for free. Since there are only two of us (Vox is the designer and I'm the programmer), we wanted a smaller project to explore before tackling Metaverse VR head on. We're really excited to share details about it soon!
We really hope you stick with us. Great things to come! Thanks so much to everyone who continues to support us! And also to those who like to keep us on our toes ;)
Here's a small work-in-progress preview of the VR game we've been working on in addition to Metaverse. It's called XLR, and every owner of Metaverse will get it for free:

Let me start by saying that I have always been supportive, polite and a "team player" when it came to the development of Metaverse...since it was Cubic... but enough is enough now... your two posts have infuriated me...
NO ONE CARES ABOUT VR!!! WE WANT THE GAME WE PAYED FOR TO BE WORKED ON!!!
Someone asks about an update, and you ramble on about VR... we get it bro, YOU are excited...
YOU wanted to get your VR toes wet? YOU are excited about VR...Well what does that have to do with us? Is anyone planning on shelling out 800 bucks for VR? I dont know anyone who is... and i certainly dont know anyone who is going to, to play a game that is barely playable....so you used Metaverse as an excuse to get a free vive, and jerk around all day playing with the VR, with our money in your pocket...
YOU took on another project... again, not our problem... you cant get anything going with the ONE you are working on, so sure... add to the workload that you already cannot handle... SMART
I have had a positive review up for Metaverse for nearly a year, which will now be negative, no matter what happens... and i will post the link to this thread in that review...
I am disgusted at your two posts and at the way you are handling Metaverse
Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops.
Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more"

Thank you for the absolutely useless post and proving that you clearly did not read mine. Well aware of what EA is, am involved in many of them... try READING a post instead of blindly responding to it. "What EA is" has nothing to do with what i am saying...lol... at all....
We've never made a promise about the frequency of updates, but I did specifically say above that Metaverse is still alive and kicking.
It sounds like you are under the impression that we're making loads of money here, so in some ways I can understand where you're coming from. The fact is that we don't even make enough from Metaverse to cover a gym membership. We love Metaverse and all our customers, but unfortunately it's not a sustainable business yet. We want to keep pressing forward, and the only path we see that allows us to keep Metaverse alive is to diversify. That's what we're attempting to do with XLR. We're trying to be good Early Access citizens by giving XLR for free to everyone who owns Metaverse. If you don't plan to get a VR headset, I would encourage you to sell or trade XLR on Steam when we add it to your account.
