how does this compare to comi?

I've played all the monkey island games except this one (and tales. not sure if that actually counts...) I loved Curse of Monkey Island, and have had a hard time getting into this one. how do they compare?

MI2 is my favourite. It has more in common with MI1 than CoMI. Once you get off the first island this will become more apparent. I'm not sure how to compare them specifically, what bothers you about it?

I like this one better. Curse was my first MI game, and probably my second favourite.

welp, i've sunk something like 8 hours into this game over the past 2 days. i do like it a lot. maybe not as much as comi, but i like it. it's incredibly difficult. did either of you beat it without hints?

I got some hints but I was rather young when I played it and somehow remember every detail.

finished it. finally. it was too hard for me. i liked it, but not nearly as much as curse. the difficulty just frustrated me.

I'm with you on that. I enjoy nowadays adventures with easier puzzles. It's all about the story, as long as there's suficient interaction to draw you into it. I think having internet access and a busier life have both made me less patient.

You know, the original Monkey Island 2 didn't have the hint system, but it did have an "easy" mode which skipped a whole heap of puzzles and did others differently. It was therefore probably easier overall.

exactly! i'm a little embarassed to admit it, but the internet has made me a whole lot less patient. and willing to but up with rediculous puzzles. but i did enjoy the game as a whole.

Which puzzles did you find to be difficult? I'm curious.

the hardest for me was the one in lechucks fortress, with the bone hallways. i also had a tough time with some other parts, but mainly because i wasnt thorough enough..

I had to use the walkthough sometimes because certain puzzles are way too hard. CoMI was my first MI and I think it's the best in the series. I also played the new ones from Telltale Game which I think are very worth playing as well.

I loved episodes of tales of monkey island and hate this one. I know it's an old game, but it's so annoying and hard and controls are just awful.

I play with gamepad and it's awful. This is one of the worst adventure games i've played.

Well there's your problem. The game is meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard. Normally, I'm all for playing with the gamepad, but for adventure games, I make exceptions. And it's not that bad.. The puzzles were fairly decent. The jokes were fairly decent too. COMI still holds top spot for me though. What do you judge bad by?
