*spoilers* how do you beat vader or the emporer?
Hidy ho all,

I'm right at the end of the game, and I'm having some trouble with either the emporer or vader.

no matter which I choose, I can't even get them down to half health.

Is there some tactic i'm missing?

I didn't try finishing Vader off, so can't help with that. As for the Emperor, it's generally better to fight him at distance because of his lightning shield that will hurt you if you get too close. Force lightning and throwing your lightsaber is handy here. You can still sneak in some hits in melee if you're feeling lucky.

Hide behind one of the two consoles when the Emperor it throwing junk at you.

Block (default: R on keyboard, LT on X360 controller) when the he's using lightning. If you time it right (shortly before he starts the attack), you will send some of the lightning back at him, which does decent damage. He usually does it after he dashes. Keep in mind that unlike the junk throwing I mentioned, the lightning does pass through the consoles, so they won't protect you from that.

Against Vader, I found Sith Lightening Strike (or whatever that move where you use a lightening infused lightsaber is called) to be pretty effective. Like other force users, Vader seems to be able to automatically block most non-melee force attacks (lightening, force push, etc etc).

Against Emperor... he was a tough fight. It was almost like a classic shooter rather than an action game. When Emperor begins attacking, run outside the "circle" formed by consoles and whatnot. Hide behind it to escape his lightening attacks, and dash left and right to avoid objects that he throws at you. When Emperor sends his guards at you, kill them quickly to gain your health back. They shouldn't be too much trouble by this point. Try to run around so you can engage them one to one instead of one against three or four.
