Hey there dude, I recently went throught the process of modding this game on my mac, and whilst initially daunting, I eventually got it working 100%. Essentially there are two ways to mod the game. The first (and easiest) way is to find mods that work by simply being dropped into your "Override" folder. Most will be labled as such and will include a readme.

To get to your Override folder, you first need to find the right file directory! The one you need is in your Steam folder in Application Support. This is the Application Support that is in the hidden Library folder in your User folder at User/Library/Application Support/Steam not the visible one in your HD folder. (Hover over where is says "Go" at the top of the screen and hold "Alt" key to see this hidden Library folder, or use another way to reveal hidden files, then look in your user folder) After finding the Steam folder, then go to SteamApps/common/swkotor. Inside swkotor you will see the SW:KOTOR application file. Right click it and then click show package contents, then go to Contents/KOTOR Data. Now if you don't see an Override folder, simply make one yourself (New Folder, then rename it "Override". Easy!). This is where you will be putting all your simple mods that dont need an installer.

The second way requires a bit more effort, but is easily done after you know what you're doing. Other types of mods for this game use the "TSL Patcher" which initially comes as an .exe file, which is the mac users cryptonite! All the mods I saw that required this each came with their own TSL Patcher for ease of use. Now, to open this patcher you WILL (unless you have access to Windows) have to download the trial for an application called "CrossOver". What this program allows you to do is to open .exe files (amongst other things) on your mac.

So after downloading CrossOver, find the mod you want and dump it in Contents/KOTOR Data (you'll see why). Now open the patcher from here using Crossover. Dont worry about any of the options for installing the patcher and just click install. TSL Patcher should then open up with the readme for the mod and an install button. Click it. Now, aslong as you put the patcher somewhere in the contents of the SW:KOTOR application (remember "show package contents"?) before you opened it, the next step is easy. Because the folders we want to use are either hidden, or are not technically folders (showing the contents of the Application file), without having the file opening from somewhere within these folders, you wouldn't even be able to see the Library folder in the User folder, or the contents of the Application file.

Now, a box should have popped up asking you to choose the folder where your game is installed. It will look a little weird and there will be some file directories that you wouldn't have seen before. Just click on "Desktop", then "My Computer" and you should see the "User" folder. So now all you have to do is get to the KOTOR Data folder, click on it and then click OK. Here is the route I took (might be different on your mac, hopefully it will be the same!) Desktop/My Computer/User/Owen (Y:)/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/Common/swkotor/Knights of the Old Republic.app/Contents/KOTOR Data

Once its finished, the installer will shut down and the mod will be ready to play! I've managed to install nearly every mod I've seen, apart from the Super Skip Taris mod (can't even find the mod file becuase the download links on the sites are expired! This game is so old) and the leveling adjustment mod that halves leveling speed (the "zip" type file is a .tz file and my mac doesn't do anything when I open it). So even Mac gamers can mod the game just as much as the Windows chaps can!

For the most comprehensive list of mods for this game, check out: http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/

Thats where I got all mine.

Aaaaaanyway, hope that proves useful because there was nobody to tell me how to do any of this and I was over the moon when I got it working!

Hey SuperOwen,
I have the same problem as Darkman2627. I got my version of KOTOR from Apples App store and cannot seem to find any other files or folders associated with it. Can you point us in the right direction?

It's "kryptonite."

I am NOT trying to be a grammar nazi, but my inner nerd had to say something.
