Stock Steam version GUI issue.

Downloaded, and re-DL'd game. In 800x600 quick menus(top R and quick item bottom R) are present. When I change to 1024x768 resolution they disappear regardless of 'show gui' being on or off in options. Character portraits are present in both resolutions. Not trying to run widescreen or any mods, just the vanilla. Funny thing is, I had a cracked game w/o this issue and uninstalled it to buy the STEAM version in support of developers. Any suggestions???
