Stuck on First Screen after "Play New Game" - no cursor
I haven't been able to play the game yet - after I press "Play New Game", I watch the credits (they take quite a while, too), and then it stops at the screenshot below. That's it. I don't have a cursor, nothing happens, just looping music. I can press escape and go out to the menu, but I can't progress beyond this point. Anyone had this problem?

I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit.

Okay, it's actually really simple - the cutscene lasts for quite a long time, or at least I didn't wait long enough. If you press backspace, you can skip to the start of the game itself.

it's really annoying hey. I wonder why they chose backspace and not escape.

It was not the first key that I tried, certainly.

That got me puzzled for a bit as well, the controls in the remake are in general quite horrible and unintuitive (no way to reach the inventory or verb selection with a two button mouse). The game also lacks dialog skipping in the remake, but has it in classic mode (press dot).

Things get a little better in Monkey Island 2.

I found backspace works for dialogue skipping in the remake.
