Control system is AWFUL!
Yes, let's make 'U' the jump key despite 99.99999% of games using the space key. No, we don't need a mouse to control looking around. We'll just make player guess -- with a changing POV depending on location on the map. ESC to bring up a game menu, save a game, or quit? Nope! That would be too easy!

I almost bought LOTR too. So glad I didn't. The promo looked funny but the gameplay is something that belongs on a Nintendo...not even the Wii...that other one....the NES.

It was perfectly playable for me with a keyboard.
You can customize the controls too just so you know.

Also, I didn't really miss using the mouse to look around once I got used to the camera.
Sure, it'd be nice to have but alas we don't so we have to make do with what we got and I'd say it managed to play nicely enough without it.

You are right about the ability to change keyboard mapping but using it, while in game, appears to require the game to be restarted. At least, that's what appeared when I tried the game. Could be operator error though.

The lack of "mouse look" was what really turned me off. Too many years of FPS / RPG / MMOs have ingrained that habit.
