FAQ
What kind of game is Vagante?
Vagante is a challenging roguelike action platformer with rpg mechanics. Which means it features the following:

  • Perma-death
  • Randomly Generated Levels
  • Randomly Generated Loot
  • Character Building

The game features it's own leveling system, called the Affinities. Each class, of which there are four currently, has their own set of unique affinities they can level as they gain experience. Affinities add or upgrade the repeteroire of actions of each class, for instance the Rogue class may stealth, upgrade their skill with bows to aim and pierce, or roll and wall climb. Vagante encourages the player to experiment and adapt their character builds per run.

The game is structured in 4 acts or environments, with 3 floors per act, and at least one challenging but optional branching level.

In your adventures you'll encounter various bosses, shopkeepers, monsters, bandits, gift granting shrines and various traps. Secrets are spread throughout floors and hidden in the mechanics. We try our best to keep silent some of the secrets we hide in the game (please use spoiler tags).

The game also features unlockables, which are granted when the player meets certain conditions. Most of the current unlockables are 'backgrounds' which can be chosen before each run, which give a variety of benefits along with tradeoffs, but never quite making the game easier per se.

We follow a tough but fair design philosophy, which is to say damage and subsequently death can be avoided by the skill of the player, which is learned through subsequent playthroughs, this entails paying attention to the environment, the tells and patterns of enemies, skillful maneuvering and also the players reflexes. We take after the Dark Souls + Castlevania series in this regard. The game is more methodical than you might be use to from other games in this genre.

One question, mana regeneration seems break sometimes...
It sometimes stops regenerate for minutes or until the next level

Mana regeneration is currently limited by revealing map terrain. eg. If you explore more, it will start to regenerate again.

In other words, you have a limited mana supply per level.
Road map seemse broken
I love the thing of changing costumes now, but...
Can you put the first costumes of the knight and the rogue one?
Also, I'm exited about the online gameplay *---*
is your website broken? Clicking the roadmap gets me an error and trying to go for the website directly aswell. All other websites are functioning so it shouldnt be a problem on my end.
Edit: I figured out that the link above is just incorrect.

Can you please post a link to the correct one? I'm also interested in viewing the roadmap.

Edit: Never mind, found it via going to the website then going to devblog > Roadmap.

I'm pretty sure mana regens due to map exploration
yeah 2-3 years.. no double why you show inexperience in game designing and project planning.

What?
you may want to add that mac/linux updates are not on the same update schedule
Would it be possible to add a compendium of sorts? A guide of interactions that fills out the more you encounter things? This personally would just help with things like alters and certain boss strategies.
LAN co-op or single machine co-op? More indie devs need to realise no one does couch co-op on their PC when couples/people usually have their own machines.
