A proposal to revive this game and use it to promote SteamOS
Hello everybody, I've played this game for a long time and it is my favourite (with HLDM aswell).

But I think this game has been abandoned and left for dead, and so does the whole community who used to play this game all day and compete in CAL.

But, I think the release of SteamOS is a good opportunity to bring back this amazing game. How so?

By making a few updates:

1) Adding more modes, like Adrenaline Gamer 2 does. The one interesting in my opinion is Arena, which is geat for 1 on 1. Valve could organize competitions like idSoftware still does with QuakeCon. But there are other great modes like CTF (Capture the Flag). Maybe they could merge the third-party HL2CTF mod?

2) Adding more maps. Taking advantage of the amazing scenarios presented in HL2 Episode One and HL2 Episode Two, I think adding more maps wouldn't cost much to Valve. For example, dm_hospital (Ep1), dm_aftermath (Ep1), dm_woods (Ep2), dm_caves (Ep2), etc etc.

3) Fixing already known bugs, of course.

4) Making a more complete GUI to customize settings, such as: crossair, binding weapons to certain keys (not the slots, the weapons).

These changes doesn't seem much, but they are. And if you add an marketing campaing presenting the new SteamOS with it, organizing competitions and stuff, it'll be great.

Valve, I know you are probably thinking about doing this with the Episode Three, but think about how many people assists QuakeCon (even after all these years!).

Please share your thoughts and opinions, and sign if you agree!

Thank you for your time.

Good luck with that but the phrase flogging a dead horse comes to mind, the only hope we have is for HL3DM and I for one am not holding my breath waiting on that. People have moved on to other games and no matter what the changes are they will not be back.

"www.quakecon.org/‎ Annual event with multiple games." so not just quake, and if it ever were just quake or the quake games, then this means they started out with a game already popular. This game was never popular, it never could've been, so stop giving that example, as it cannot be related nor compared.
