Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power

Playing Nine Parchments has once again made me realize how much I miss the Trine games.
I spent a stupid amount of time playing Trine 1 and 2 in local-co-op, vanilla and Enchanted, and they were some of the most fun times I've had. Trine 3, while having many flaws in my opinion, still had the heart.
Even if it was short, more linear and quite simplified, it was still an enchanting dive into a fairytale-like fantasy world.
Was it disappointing? Yes, but I can see the genuine passion behind it. It took not more than a few hours, and that's with collecting everything, and that cliffhanger was just a slap in the face, but still.
Then again, we didn't know that it was meant as part of a trilogy, so our expectations were higher.

Recently picked up Nine Parchments @GOG just to have some local co-op fun, and man, FB have still got it. The wit may not be as sharp as in Trine, but the visuals, music, characters, the location variety, they all make me so nostalgic. Comboing spells with mates is so much fun.
I've yet to complete it, but it seems of a reasonable length, too.
Here is to hoping it is successful enough, and FB are still interested enough in Trine to continue the series, because it would be a real shame otherwise.

Thank you for your heartwarming feedback! :)

Trine series and our three heroes are still close to our hearts even though we are currently focusing on other projects.

I'm positive they will eventually do another Trine game, a reboot of the franchise even, if they think it necessary. They returned to the same world in a different form, people still loved it, I loved it. We just have to wait and see. In the meantime, I'm happy they're exploring other genres, things turn out quite nicely, I think. :)

For sure. Even if I am sad that Trine has been on a hiatus for a while and will be for some indeterminate amount of time yet, both Shadwen and Nine Parchments have been excellent in my opinion (haven't played Has-Been Heroes, though), and maybe branching out in such different genres while still delivering their brand of a quality experience is exactly what they need - both take a break and pursue other creative ideas. Don't get me wrong, I am all up for that and am happy it happened. It's just that I love the Trine franchise so much and Nine Parchments took me back because of how much I enjoyed it on its own AND as a game that shares the same world.

I feel the same way, there's something special in Trine. You can feel the love the developers poured into the games, you can see they were extremely passionate about it. It's good to take a break, that way when Trine returns it will be bigger, more defined and original than it ever was. Meanwhile, I will enjoy whatever else they come up with, heck, I would gladly accept an expansion to Nine Parchments, really need more of this. :p
