Looking for games similar to this
Just finished this after a 2 day playthrough and it gave me the same feelings i got when i finished The Last of Us for the first time. I love the deep storytelling and tbh i dont care about gameplay as long as the game looks pretty, and has a good story. If you know any of those types of games hmu

The Longest Journey and to a lesser extent, but still very story driven, but not as deep, the sequel Dreamfall (not the new one "chapters", haven't played that yet and reviews aren't that great).
But in my opinion, everything pales when it comes to Planescape:Torment regarding depth, emotional impact and choices matter... although its dated and game mechanics are very much different.
Also Steins;Gate (Visual Novel), but again different game mechanics, as a VN it's more like a book with very little interactivity, but amazing story.

I'm also looking for games like Life Is Strange!

thanks for the help. I guess it ultimately will be very hard to find a game that compares to this one by a story and emotional impact standpoint. Thats what makes it so good i think. If every game was just as good as this one, then none of them would give players the feeling this does

I bet, but in any case, it's a pity that there are so little "interactive movies" available!
They should produce more to set themselves apart via their story lines and atmospheres. Not every movie, book or tv show is great, but there are many and there are a few among them very much worth watching :)

BTW What did you like more? The Last Of Us or Life Is Strange? And how do they compare?

It's been a very long time, but since games "like that" seem so rare, maybe really give The Longest Journey a try... it might be old, but gameplay as I remember it is very similar and its age doesn't matter as much as it does in other games since many parts of the scenes aren't real time 3D. Very little adventuring, big story, choices matter = interactive movie for me and that's what Journey is too.

The feeling is even more pronounced in Dreamfall (everything, inner monologues etc), but the story of Journey was a bit more mature if I remember it correctly.

Spot on. and I'd say LIS and TLOA are pretty different in many ways but similar in a ton as well. Both games have AMAZING stories with lots of random objects scattered around with optional dialogue, they both have great character development and characters that are easy to get attached to. Personally i liked The Last of Us a little bit better just because of the length of the story, and the gameplay + graphics were better. Super close decision though, both of them have the element that i'm looking for in a game

Thanks for all the details! What you said about TLOA sounds extremely promising! Going to check it out. I hope someone will answer your thread with some more ideas... BTW: Blade Runner from Westwood was also a very similar type of game (less adventure elements, much more story and dialogue driven), but then it's even more ancient than the others I mentioned...

Beyond two souls is great game like this. It offers a great storyline and gameplay. I won't say too much about it but there is also an element like the rewind power in it and the endings vary greatly.

Try sometimees always monsters
The wolf among us is really good. I think it is comparable to this one, but obviously no story is quite as good as this one

The Last of Us's story beats this one by a landslide

I've heard Bioshock Infinite is another game along the lines of this, with emotional strength. Indie games will do it too, Anything by Supergiant(:heyred:) or Freebird Games(:abs_birdfly:)

Word of advice? While they original BioShocks are gameing masterpieces, they are much more foxued on scenery and horror. Infinite is the one with the most attention to story.
