Is this the best one?
I've been eyeing the King's Bounty series for a while, and the humble bundle was an awesome opportunity to pick up the whole thing. Because of limited play time, I'd like to start with the best one in the series. I think I've heard rumblings that Armored Princess is the best one. Is that generally agreed on? Any arguments for the other games?

For me yes. It has more polished and balanced gameplay, more units.

AP/CW is the high point of the series in terms of gameplay and balance.

WotN actually ruined a lot of things from AP.

I have a slight preference for The Legend myself, but I agree with the others that AP is much more polished and streamlined. There are more units and the talent tree is more interesting. I just liked the Spirits of Rage better than the dragon, thematically, and I may also be biased because I played The Legend first.

WotN is rather disappointing, though. Soon after I reached the human lands I kinda lost interest - now I'm replaying AP instead :-)

I've played a few hours so far. It seems pretty good. Really similar to the HoMM series. It's pretty hard, and I may have to restart my game because I screwed up a few things.

It's very good, and it will really open up once you get access to a few areas, get a good army together and start to unlock the cool abilities :-)

Main advice for the start is to pick your battles carefully, steal whatever you can without fighting at first. Try to get the Grand Strategist medals as early as possible. Use your dragon a lot - it will gain more xp and it will help you a lot with early battles. Inquisitors are incidentally pretty great both for getting use of the dragon and getting no losses, since they can generate rage and resurrect others.

You can play Crossworlds: it includes the original AP campaign + tweaks in the "Orcs on the March" campaign (you don't even need AP installed)

So if the cross worlds game includes armored Princess, shouldn't we be playing cross worlds?

I only have a 185 GB SSD drive so I'm rather limited on how many of my steam games I can install at any one time, so I'd really rather not install both cross worlds and armored Princess if cross worlds includes everything from armored Princess.

Is that the case, cross worlds includes everything (EVERYTHING) from the armored Princess game?

Yes, just play crossworlds if you have it, it includes AP and much more.

If you want to know the whole storyline, you should start from Legend

I think AP/CW is the best in whole series, especially the resource balance.
