Telltale Games one of their first finest work!
It might not be Telltale Games first developed title but, I was pleasantly surprised by this "Back to the Future: The Game" episodic series. It follows the adventures of the good ol' Doc Emmett Brown and his good friend, Marty McFly. It's not truly mandatory to have seen the movies BUT, it really helps to have background information of the movies. To put it short, this adventure game has a new story set after BttF Part 3 movie (it could be seen as a BttF Part 4). It ends with a possibility for more content so whether or not it becomes another episodic season or a new movie, but this season/series ended in 2011 so not sure if a sequel is likely... we shall see...
The episodic format takes you about 3 to 4 hours for each episode to complete. If you skip conversations and if you use or not, the hint system, the game can be shorter or longer.
+Funny, goofy... just like the movies!
+Familiar setting with the visuals, voice cast, music.
+Interesting story. It could almost be interpreted as Back to the Future: Part 4.
+Hints mechanic to help you if you are being stuck.
+Stong voice acting skills of the actors.
+Christopher Lloyd voice acting his movie character, Doc Brown. Micheal J. Fox appeared for the final episode!
-Filler between episodes: Seems to drag between later episodes.
-Technical issues: Each time I started a new episode, the game kept crashing until a game restart and then another restart once the settings were changed.
-Puzzles are somewhat easy but the HUD elements makes it hard at times to see where you have to click and is bothersome.
A good adventure game. Not the best of Telltale Games and you cannot compare this to their "The Walking Dead" masterpiece series but I quite enjoyed this Back to the Future: The Game series.
If you liked BttF movies and you like point & click adventure, goofy-funny games, you should really enjoy this BttF: The Game. You may want to wait for a sale though... as I did!
Just remember... it is not mandatory to have seen the movies BUT it really helps that you do! I watched the three movies just before starting this game and let me tell you that I would have been lost since it was so long ago! At least, read the synopsis of the movies before playing this game or you may feel lost here and there!
