Am I insane?
Where am I supposed to be getting any information on how this game actually works? The start screen is confusing. In the upper right, I see "Normal" and think that it is a difficulty setting and I should be able to change this. Below that, there is a list of upgrades you can acquire through achievements, which seems like a bizarre way to present that information.

There is only one "guide" posted, which jumps directly into secret rooms. (I couldn't get past the first minute, because he talks about some buttons you are supposed to shoot, but it doesn't actually demonstrate what he is even shooting at.)

I do appreciate the uniqueness of the game so far. I enjoy figuring out some things for myself, but for an early access game it would seem critical to get players immediately familiar with what they are looking at. Why not post a short video guide at least explaining the intention behind the presentation. I understand it is a work in progress.

Trial and error, friend. Upgrade list:
Normal - Pistol, 4hp, nothing special
Alchemist - Alchemist Eye, Pistol, 3hp (Alchemist eye transforms objects like chests and shops into other objects)
Hound - You see rooms and stuff in them, but you don't see how they are connected together
Random Eye - self explanatory
Thief - can steal coins and unlock chests without keys once in a while.
Main concept is that you have to shoot mobs in their weak points (eyes mostly), that's pretty much it. Store coins, upgrade weapons. I don't know all the upgrades, but there are some for revolver:
1) Mana regen on not-critical hits
2) Mana regen on critical hits
3) Jumping reloads one bullet
4) First loaded bullet does extra damage
5) Chance to set on fire
6) No reloading
7) Instead of 6 bullets there is one, but it deals six times more damage (seems to make reloading slower)

My favourite is combo of last two. It turns you into a killing machine.

If you combine the last two with two fire rate ups, which I got earlier. It's the god run...

like any game, you figure it out by playing it. There isn't really a guide required. I knew that secret rooms existed but not what they looked like until i saw a faint square on the wall, naturally i shot it.

This game is awkward to say the least, but at last is entertaining.

This game sucks horribly, right?
If you have to spend the first few hours hunting down info on how to play the game, instead of being able to play the game, then you're doing it wrong...
thread is 1.5 years old at this point. But I simply played the game and when I wanted to look deeper into it i checked the handy guide section of steam.

Ninjaedit: uh... lol... just noticed i left a similar message last time this thread came up. Didn't read that before writing this one.

Wrong.
The game is only "different" but, regardless of the art style and game-play mechanics, its a fairly straight forward game.

It gets SOME time to get used to the controls or how the enemies react to you.

The secret rooms are really easy to find actually, you just gotta find secret buttons which are not so hard to spot : 3
