Beta footage 1.7 and comment
As always Devil's plays a big role in testing. Here is the most recent update to the beta being played.
Earlier I had played CSA vs. Lycia and won with 3:1 casualties so we needed to check if the Union could stand up to a confederate onslaught.

In my opinion the game has never played better than it does here, more fairly or with more "logical" outcomes if you will. Bugfree too :). Enjoy.

Union seems to be stronger now if it´s played correctly.

Devil's Den CSA side. The game plays much more balanced now and this match turns in to a race between Pender and Slocum to make it to LRT first which decides the game.
I also think it demonstrates what Darth mentioned in the patch notes; getting to the high ground means suffering a lot of casualties but in turn you'll be able to punish your enemy when you capture it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sZ-sN7ymg4&feature=youtu.be

I don't know when the patch will come Prime but Mp seems finished. SP is getting some final touches.

maybe i miss it, but it doesnt seem to me you got punished hard by going up BRT. the union brigades were getting the worse end of the volleys with the texas brigade, law and benning.

It still seems completely unrealistic to me that the conf troops 200m below the union troops can kill more units in a heavily wood area, even though they are supposed to be worse marksmen (And ye i know they are crack brigades and the union ones arent, but still). Atleast they should have less range, but this is never the case either, except for cannons.

It's hard to judge from the video though.

Playing Darth in the same battle I barely managed to get up BRT at all and even lost the battle in the end. I dont have good footage of that unfortunately. It depends a lot on how you play the scenario.

well i dont know what he did, perhaps the union units werent in a good spot. but from the above footage, it doesnt seem like the union has a big advantage being 200 higher. i mean you charged into 2 cannister cannons and 4 union brigades in high cover with height advantage. and you routed them all, while charging uphill, and you caused more casualties than you lost.

His brigades on BRT were weakened by artillery and some got shot in the flanks.But yes, the CSA brigades are good on the charge and initially I have succes at doing it. Did you keep watching though? Did you see the fight for LRT? Did you see the charges later that basicallly got the involved brigades slaughtered and how much my men suffered later?

Imagene if he had had a proper defense there and reinforced it more. My brigades spent their condition on taking BRT and when they ran out, they spent the rest of the battle, barely holding on and getting slaughtered trying to take LRT.
It was only when Pender showed up slightly ahead of Slocum that I finally manage to push him off LRT.

As others have noticed, there is need for a slight improvement, to disallow blob advance on hills.
Cost of attacking while being downhill should be higher, even for elite units. It will be addressed.

The current beta testers,one of them being Koro, are very helpful, spending their free time to test for the best patch result. We thank them publicly very much and because of them, the upcoming patch becomes better and better.
As it shows, in the next week, it will be available in all platforms.
