How do Geologist Work?

I can never seem to figure it out. Do you have to explore territory with them and a pioneer? Or do they walk on explored territory? Or are gold mines set on the map permanently?

My guess was that you need to explore territory with them and the territory must also be black for your opponent. Is that right?

You use a Pioneer to explore the map; you set a waypoint and they follow it, depending how long of a way point your pioneer gets paid CASH from your bank.

What about the Geologist, he knows what the Pioneer is doing.

Create an exploring group with a Pioneer, Geologist, and other members. The Geologist works in conjunction with the Pioneer while exploring.

he helps to pass a submission where you have to find a gold mine, without him it is invisible, that was the only case I used him
