HTC VIVE support - Developers please read
Since it's been awhile since this has been discussed, I thought I'd bring it up again.

Developers - HTC Vive is most popular VR headset for steam users with 66% of the market.

It is quickly gaining equilibrium with Oculus on the global marketplace as well, due to its room-scale movement capability and more immersive controls. I strongly urge you to seriously consider baking in the compatibility with the Vive remotes and room-scale control. If TLD became tagged with HTC Vive support, it's sales would instantly skyrocket, since it would arguably be the most advanced, full-scale game to hit HTC Vive.

I can only see one single objective to full room-scale support, and that is the method of locomotion. Teleportation would not work, since movement needs to incorporate fatigue. My suggestion would be a system similar to what the game "Hordez" has created. With this system, you would hold a in a button to walk and the character would move automatically. Hordez has added a grid overview option which reduces vr-induced motion-sickness and works well.

In Conclusion, HTC Vive is the bonified winner in the VR war for Steam users, and I strongly urge you to add this support.

Yup, we're tracking both Vive and Oculus. Figuring out if/how to best support an experience in The Long Dark on these platforms is something we'll look into after we launch Story Mode.

Thanks for your thoughts!

[X-Post from my Reddit comment]

The best method for locomotion I could imagine for this game would be the locomotion method used by this game (https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4ly722/free_vive_multiplayer_fps_tech_demo/), where you swing the controllers at your sides as if you're walking to move. I didn't experience any motion sickness with this method, and I feel like it would work doubly well since going faster in the Long Dark burns calories faster, and this method literally requires more real life physical energy to go faster.
