How do you kill the bear?
I'm all out of ammo and I simply can't find anymore and I need to kill the stupid bear at the end of Ep 2. How do I it?

You need ammo, six rounds I think.

The easiest way is to shoot him with a rifle, crouched from a distance, then he will either run off, or charge. If he charges, switch to the flare gun and scare him off to the next checkpoint.

There were like a million bulluets, what did you do with them all?

watch this video, at 1:30, and at 11:40 you'll see where the gray boxes are that refill with ammo etc. *every* day:

Oh, I think I found one of those metal boxes by the derailment. It had 2 rounds in it, the last 2 rounds I spent on the bear. Those refill every day, huh? Good to know. Now I guess I can try to stockpile and finally beat this episode.

EDIT: I killed the bear in the Clearcut a few hours ago. I thought that was the end of the episode. Guess what? Oops, it's not. Now I'm camped out outside of the stupid dam waiting for the aurora.

You can't kill the bear at the end, it charges and mauls you after which you get a "to be continued".

The OP is talking about Wintermute episode 2, not The Old Bear Challenge part 2.

My apologies for anyone being confused, was not my intention. I wasn't aware there were two instances of dealing with the bear, but the more you know!

Hi. I succeeded in killing the old bear with 7 shots. That should be enough.

I slept the night through in Jeremiah's cabin in my sleeping bad before heading off for the bear...
As I exit the door, the bear is standing right in front of me and I can shoot him once before he runs off. Is this normal? Should he not be somewhere else further away from the cabin?
And, after the shot I enter the cabin and get out again... the bear is there once again waiting to be shot one more time! Surely this is a bug isn't it?
Since it saves the game each time I enter the building, I'm not sure if I should waste all my remaining 8 bullets this way, by just getting in and out of the cabin after each shot? Something tells me these shots don't really count...

No, it was exactly the same that happend to me. You shall just be prepared to fire just when you open the door. Then it will run, you will follow it, its footsteps in the snow, ocassionally get some shots in, it takes about 20 minutes to hit him, follow him, hit him again and finally - BOOM - DEAD:-)

OK, apparently it is a known issue. Really confusing...

Ok. The problem really is to find them (the cartridges) around. It spend about 6 hours in all on this as I remeber it...
