FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (UPDATED 7/24)
Hey all, sorry for the delay in getting this up. This post will aggregate answers to most frequently asked questions to Dungeon Defenders Eternity:

Q: There’s a cashshop. Will Dungeon Defenders Eternity be pay-to-win?

A: NO . Right now, many of you are concerned about the in-game cash shop. It’s important for us to let you know that we will NEVER charge for level increases, missions, or weapons/armor in Dungeon Defenders Eternity. This means that, unlike in the original Dungeon Defenders, all future missions will be free. There will never be any pay-to-win items available in the shop on any platform.

One of our major goals with this version is to provide a secure environment where your heroes’ progression truly matters. We will not short circuit that by simply allowing people to pay for progress.

On some mobile platforms we will package the game with less heroes to compensate for a lower price point. The remaining heroes will be for sale on those platforms.

Q: Why is Dungeon Defenders Eternity not an Early Access title?

A: Before releasing Dungeon Defenders Eternity we too asked ourselves if it should be classified as an Early Access title. Ultimately, we decided it would be disingenuous to release Dungeon Defenders Eternity through Early Access.

We believe Early Access should allow players to play games early and help evolve the core game experience as the developer works on the title. Dungeon Defenders II will go through this process on Steam, and in many ways is already getting this type of feedback from our Defense Council members. This is different from a live game whose core gameplay is already established, but has a developer who listens to fans and improves upon that experience for everyone after launch.

Dungeon Defenders Eternity’s core game has largely been established through feedback from the original game, after thousands of hours of time invested from our community.

When the original Dungeon Defenders launched, it took time to get TrendyNet fully up and operational. Back then we had issues and made mistakes, and we will again. We can only promise that we are iterating and fixing playverse with much more process and care than we did the original. We hope the quality of Dungeon Defenders Eternity’s service will live up to your expectations soon.

Q: Is Dungeon Defenders Eternity a mobile port?

A: NO, Dungeon Defenders Eternity is developed first and foremost for the PC. We do have a version of the PC game which you can play on Android. This version is nearly identical to and can play with the PC version. Going forward, our goal as a company is to create core game experiences that are available across multiple platforms. This means putting real, full PC games on mobile, not the other way around.

While focusing on the PC version of Dungeon Defenders Eternity we have not had enough time create an experience we consider “a good enough” experience on mobile. This is why we only recommend playing the current mobile version with a controller and have released it to a limited userbase that has a high population of users with mobile controllers. This is similar to the Android versions of Half-Life 2 and Portal available for NVIDIA SHIELD devices. Later on, we will expand this release once we have time to implement a better mobile experience.

Some players feel that the graphics have been “downgraded” due to our texture streaming technology implemented in Dungeon Defenders Eternity. We have attempted to fix this issue by allowing players to download the game in full before they launch it. We hope this fixes this issue.

Q: Will there be future paid DLC of any kind?
Q: Will there be any future work on the now old console or PC versions?

Thanks for addressing the P2W/DLC/etc concerns. Still wish I could actually play, though.
When will the single player patch go live? Right now, I'm forced into a multiplayer tavern before I can start a game. When will we have single player taverns?
Q:Why was DDE made in the first place?
Q What is the overall goal of DDE?

These are questions that I feel need to be answered because as of right now I refuse to play this game. Me and many players have spent tremendous amount of hous in DD1 and now have to start all over again in a revision of a classic gem. I see no reason on why this game was so necessary to make because now all the charm and soul that was in DD1 is now destroyed because of the release of this revision of DDE. If we are to expect the same features in DD2 then you guys also just destroyed that charm and soul in a game that is not even out yet because we now know what to expect instead of having that "Fresh, New feel to it". I am just stating my opinions and concerns about this game.

the single player patch has been in since last night, it plays like guild wars 1 now, where the tavern is the MMO aspect, click Host private session / game.

The game was created with the new engine from the ground up (in answer to why the game was created), more then likely this will be used in DD2, and the create a more hack resistant game for everyone, which the first game could not of done considering most files are saved locally.

Will we ever see the return of private tavern that we can customise with crystal and achievments like the original ?

Q: Why is DDE not labeled as an Early Access title?

Right, but that's not single player. It's like saying that WoW is single player because I can go into an instance by myself. You can't play this game single player right now. But I have hope because in the other sticky, the Devs said that single player is on the way. So, I just want to know when.

I need the answer from a dev, sorry.
Will there be Mulit monitor support??
Q. I just noticed your Hardcore mode is perma death for heros. Will there be some protections? My friend and I finished the waves completely without dying. We were about to head back to tavern but he noticed a dye in lava and jumped down to get it. He lost his guy FOREVER!

That is the point of hardcore modes...Guess you've probably never played any of the Diablo series or any Rogue-like game at all.
Thank you for officially addressing this Trendy.

+1
It makes sense to assume hardcore doesn't mean D2 style HC mode because the term is used differently outside of roguelikes and this isn't one. You could say Diablo isn't one either, but much of the first game was lifted from Angband so it sort of started as one. It's also inconsistent with the roguelike usage of "hardcore" to let people enter into it casually in the middle of the leveling process. True hardcore means ironman from the start.

And didn't DD1 have something else that was called hardcore?

Since the thread is about questions, will we at some point get wardrobe/social slots or have access to invisible dye?
Heres some quickfire questions.
1. Why are there features that are still in development? Why didn't you wait to release the game with the features that the other game had? I am talking about mix mode and nightmare mode.
2. For the people who accidentally sold their costumes due to the "unlock all gear" and "sell all unlocked gear" buttons be refunded?
3. Why were missions cut from the "Definitive" version of the game?
4. Why were eggs added? Why not just make it so pets are dropped?

Im sure I could come up with more, but Ill stop here for now.
(I made a post on the dungeon defenders fourms, but best to get the answers on both fourms.)
