A SERIOUS REQUEST TO VALVE!
Valve, for the love of gawd and all things holy, PLEASE do NOT update Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes, or Day of Defeat!

Absolutely NOTHING... NO "new content" delivery system, NO "SteamPipe" format or installation, NO GoldSource engine updates, NO "updates" to the graphics renderers or audio support (e.g. removing the D3D renderer, or EAX ♥♥♥♥♥♥nel surround-sound support), NO moving the files and directories structure all over the place, and NO updates to the games themselves.

PLEASE, *NO* UPDATES!

why
Why would they?
JUST AS I THOUGHT, Condition Zero NOW is getting the same SCREWED UP treatment!

Expect the same for CS:CZ-DS/DoD as well. Oh freakin' well...

Can't wait. Maybe when they update it mine will actually launch again! :)
They aren't changing anything besides a few console commands, from what I've seen. But I've just been on 1.6.
Just a heads-up... the so-called "update" to CS:CZ has now been publically pushed by Valve!

Nothing bad about the updates, openGL is the best anyway...

Except for the (quite a few) folks who have problems running the OpenGL graphics renderer on their PCs (e.g. poor framerate/performace, or constant crashes when starting the game).

Their ONLY alternative is SOFTWARE MODE (YUCK!).

Not to mention, the REMOVAL of EAX (and A3D) ♥♥♥♥♥♥nel surround-sound (3D 'positional' audio) support... yeah, that's a 'really nice' so-called 'update' :(

EAX and A3D aren't used anymore, they are deprecated, have been for years. EAX was replaced with OpenAL years ago.

So, can you confirm that ♥♥♥♥♥♥nel quadraphonic stereo does indeed function with these updates (so far, that would include Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and possibly Counter-Strike: Condition Zero)?

Why wouldn't it? OpenAL maintains all the same functionality EAX had.

Agreed and understood. But I have yet to see a single player who has confirmed this.

(Edit) Just to clarify, re: ♥♥♥♥♥♥nel quadraphonic surround-sound support.
