Day of Defeat

Day of Defeat

Failed to start game. Missing executable.
I've tried deleting the appcache folder and restarting. Also tried reinstalling multiple times but always get the same message. I run win 7 64 bit. Anyone else have this problem?

What meaning Missing executable? you dont have hl.exe ?
I'm having this problem aswell. Tried different steps. But now I am flustered. First time I can't figure something out. Anybody got a no brainer fix?

*Update*

Got it...

Ipkus - Copy the contents of your half-life folder as follows:

Copy half-life related files and folders from:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\USERNAME\half-life\

Paste to:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\half-life\

Should be able to fire it up!

I was trying to install dod on a secondary drive, which is my main steam drive, but did not work. So i reinstalled hl/dod onto my primary drive and now it works. Ah, the nostalgia...
I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8 and I am having this same problem.

Update:
Okay, I found this on a forum for another game, and it seems to be updating now...

1) In steam, click on Library
2) On the library's left column, right click Day of Defeat
3) On the context menu that pops up, click the "Properties" option
4) On the window that pops up, click the "Local Files" tab
5) On that tab, click the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache..." button

Afterwords the game will update itself.

Im running Linux 14.04 and my PC does that too, anyone got a fix because im pretty sure you have to do something else on linux.
In your steam library, right click on dod -> properties -> create desktop shortcut
I'm running it just fine now. The trick above seemed to work. Something just needed repairing. A Steam update must have messed with it somehow.
