anyone know where i can find more waypoints for sturmbot?
I already have the 600 waypoint pack for sturmbot, however most of the maps no longer work or have bots getting stuck, and most maps i like arent in the waypoints. If anyone knows where i can find more waypoints please let me know, thanks!

you just asked this awhile ago? why again
because the waypoints on the sturmbot website suck, on all the maps several bots become stuck all the time, even tried the waypoints from 2003, same thing happened, bots become stuck, most maps are unplayable, including my favorite ones. dod_caen, dod_kalt, and dod_donner, all unplayable because several bots become stuck behind buildings.
well good luck
Do maps on GLDSRC have .nav files

Try editing them? Sturmbot Waypoint guides. [sturmbot.org] It does take time to learn, I found a few in the "official pack" like dod glider and made my own as that map is my favorite and the most broken one I know of.

No one is submitting waypoints much ( I am the Webmaster of Sturmbot.org ) as I shut down access to forums due to the many hack attempts and spamming idiots... I don't have time to manually deal with these fools on an hourly basis.

Waypoints, even good ones can differ game to game. You are right there as there are many waypoints in the "official" pack that need re-editing.
Finding those better ones, reviewing them and weeding out the bad ones of the 600 strong pack is a massive effort.

If anyone has better waypoints contact me Sturmbot Webmaster. [sturmbot.org]

If anyone would like to have access to Sturmbot.org to add downloads... contact me I can enable a admin editing / upload rights login.

I will poke around and see if there are any news waypoints out there but these are now like finding a needle in a haystack.
thanks :) is sturmbot compatible with other plugins? i wanted to use the amx flamethrower plugin, and the parachute, are those campatible with sturmbot and will they use the plugins too?

You were right about dod_cean Good or Fixed SturmBot Waypoints for DoD_Caen?[forums.bots-united.com]

BOTH of these waypoint files are cobbled up... waypoints stuck in the ground and in buildings, as well as pathways that go through walls, and such.

That tells me that the waypoints were made for a older map version of dod_caen.
The map origins were changed in Hammer between versions... the waypoint origins do not match the map ground level in the new map... likely from the map being cut and paste in Hammer or game engine differences.

The other comment there on pathways going through walls may be a new wall added in a map version or again some origins have been shifted.

So the goal of finding a waypoint with a file date being the youngest is likely to be the best waypoint version, other than that, editing the official pack is playing all the maps, multiple times on both side or observing a game as spectator for obvious errors.

I calculate that task as a 108 hour task. You can see why no one has done that.

But... I did find a pack I forgot about. It is a matter of tracking down the best authors.

Golden Pathways Sturmbot Pack Vol.1 was made in 2003 by Godcha.
http://dodarchive.wunderboy.org/t-13508.html
These may also be too old as the pack install says... /sierra/half-life/ folder

Now if you installed that pack the waypoints there will work... but they are different to the ones made for sturmbot version 1.6 - 1.7. The do not pick up enough detonation packs and they have missing waypoints to lay the charges and brake walls.

What version comes up in dod_caen ? If it does not say Sturmbot version 1.6 or 1.7 you may have a file too old for the map.

Try refreshing them? I tried to find the latest I could in 2007 but some packs date way back to versions where maps physically changed....

I have not tried, my knowledge of server side plugins like amx does not reach back that far in the dod versions, I only have SourceMod plugin experience, even that was years ago now.

i have sturmbot and just installed amx to my dod directory, however, i launched sturmbot but it does not have the amx mod active, so i guess amx isnt compatible with sturmbot :/

It would seem so. From 2004...

https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=1636

But some posts in 2011 say yes...
https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=45695

Sturmbot 1.7 and Shrikebot 2.3.1 works on metamod 1.19 and amxmodx 1.8.1 so far on my DOD 1.3 winxp listenserver.

Create a config.ini inside metamod's folder and add these 2 lines...
gamedll dlls/shrikebot.dll
gamedll sturmbot/dlls/sturm_bot.dll

Bots are installed on their default location.
BTw - hopes it's ok to bump this old thread.

You may be missing that configuration?

i saw that, but i do not know how to create a config ini file. Also i was looking for help on dod plugins.net but my email never got approved from the administrator so i was never able to make posts. Im trying to put in the parachute plugin, no luck.

It may be a matter of making sure you look at the config files in more depth, they are important.

So what is happening is AMX as "the" plugin is knocking out your Sturnbot plugin as "the" only plugin.

Lets say you installed Sturmbot on your local PC first, then you installed AMX...

If you install AMX via the "AMX Mod X Full Installer" on this page ...
http://www.amxmodx.org/downloads.php
... then that install will allow you to select dod and find the game directory.

The best way to install AMX is that way it seems.

What the installer does next is edit your liblist.gam file. A good installer feature but if you installed my package or have manually installed Sturmbot or ShrikeBot and edited it yourself it will knock out the file contents of liblist.game and change it.

Here is what that AMX Mod X Full Installer did to my file...

game "Day of Defeat" url_info "http://www.dayofdefeat.net" url_dl "" version "1.3" size "5" svonly "0" cldll "1" secure "1" hlversion "1110" type "multiplayer_only" nomodels "1" nohimodel "1" mpentity "info_player_allies" //gamedll "dlls\dod.dll" //gamedll_linux "dlls/dod_i386.so" //gamedll "sturmbot\dlls\STURM_bot.dll" //gamedll_linux "sturmbot/dlls/sturmbot-i486.so" gamedll "addons\metamod\dlls\metamod.dll" gamedll_linux "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod.so" gamedll_osx "addons/metamod/dlls/metamod.dylib"

See what the AMX install did there?

It put a // in front of the windows .dll needed to load the sturmbot .dll

gamedll "sturmbot\dlls\STURM_bot.dll"

As you can see, AMX wants to be the only plugin there!

For windows here is the manual edits (file is the same if you used my steam installer) to the liblist.gam file you need to load Sturmbot (don't edit it back, leave the AMX edits and read on)...
game "Day of Defeat" url_info "http://www.dayofdefeat.net" url_dl "" version "1.3" size "5" svonly "0" cldll "1" secure "1" hlversion "1110" type "multiplayer_only" nomodels "1" nohimodel "1" mpentity "info_player_allies" //gamedll "dlls\dod.dll" gamedll "sturmbot\dlls\STURM_bot.dll" gamedll_osx "dlls/dod.dylib" detailed_textures "1"

Both installs are editing your dod files, in this case adding files and folders but also editing that liblist.gam file and you may not know it.

Both work together but both will edit that liblist.gam file.

Fix....

I am assuming that you installed Sturnbot first, then installed AMX and AMX is working but not Sturmbot now. The fix below will work if AMX was the last install you did...

Because of that over writing conflict between first installing Sturmbot and then the MetaMod/AMX install, after installing AMX you now need to go to...

64 bit systems...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\dod\addons\metamod

32 bit systems...
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\dod\addons\metamod

You now need to create a "config.ini" file.

It is not hard, useful to know in goldsource games, basically these .ini files are just a text file you can make with notepad and save as "all files" to change the file extension to a .ini not a .txt file.

Create the config.ini and what to put in it...

1. In that directory above (metamod) right click and select "New Text Document"

2. Open that "New Text Document" and place this in....
;; Metamod config.ini gamedll dlls/shrikebot.dll gamedll sturmbot/dlls/sturm_bot.dll
Note 1: the ";;" in front of any lines in this file type is not read, these words are are ignored by the game engine, these are used as titles or notes.
Note 2: those entries are for both SturmBot and ShrikeBot

3. Now go to "File" - "Save As"

4. Call the file name "config.ini" in the "File name" box but ... DON'T SAVE IT YET !

5. In the "Save as type" below that you must use the drop down selector and select "All Files"

6. Now press the save button. You can now close the file.

7. Get rid of the "New Text Document" you made previously as it is just litter now.

You should now have a "config.ini" in the metamod folder that you can right click and open with Notepad if you have to add other non AMX plugins.

You will find Sturmbot will now work, and so will AMX as both are being controlled by metamod as the base plugin.

Notepad ++ is a good editor for these config files (free) as it highlights the code to show any errors but notepad is fine for quick edits...
https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.5.1.html

Note windows will not assign a program to open/edit these file types by default.

Notepad ++ does place a entry in the right click menu that you can select.

Hope this helps.
