Help... Xing wants to start from the beginning!!!
I was at about 40% in the game, in the area of the drums. I quit the game to have a pause and when I restarted it, it shows nothing in the slot I was playing, meaning that I have to restart everything. I don't want to restart, what should I do to continue where I quit?

I am having the exact same problem, was over 50% through the game, went to go play today and Steam installed an update for Xing and now I have no progress in my game, it is asking me to select the animal picture again as it did when the game was 1st started.

We apologize that this save bug slipped past our nets on the latest patch. It was an oversight and we have since reverted it. (So if you are reading this and haven't played, make sure you get the very latest update)

If you are having this problem and can describe to us exactly where you are in the game, we can recreate a save file for you in that location, so you can just load that instead of having to do everything over again >< Please email us at xingthegame@gmail.com with where you last were, including any runes you may have picked up, and we will email you a save that should be close to that!

So so sorry for the inconvenience! This will never happen again!

Thank you Falco! I tryed to relaunch the game and I see that it updated but my slot is still empty. I guess I need to wait a while until get it up again, right?

So what you are saying is that our games are lost forever and there is no way to get it back?

The problem with your "Close" to where you were solution is that, in my case, I am in Realm 4 but I wanted to go back to 1 & 2 because I was missing a few Runes and in one case a Story Scroll to read. If I use your method those Realms would be completed already right?

I've just developed an in-game tool for you affected by my mistake that will allow you to recreate your save file. Fortunately it appears that only a few of you are in this unfortunate situation.

UruBoo: You'll have to wait for the next update to get your progress back, and you will need to create a new save file and use a menu option to restore it to where you were.

nomoregas: The tool will allow for some granularity, as it choosing which levels to restore, and it will automatically collect the runes and poetry in each level.

Due to my mistake the save files were actually overwritten by the new backups (ironically) so unless you personally have a system restore or a backup, they will need to be recreated. I would say to expect the tool soon but I'm going to be extra cautious when pushing this new build to avoid any other serious issues.

Very disappointing, this is the only drawback to an automatic Updates system as it takes out the 'Choice' to Install or not. I was having such a great time in Xing and it was running perfectly for me except for 2 glitches I ran into that corrected themselves upon Exit and opening the game again. I had already re-played Realm 3 because I had missed 2 Runes and was hoping to get back into Realm 1 & 2 to get what I had missed there to so as much as I hate to say it, I may have to start from the scratch anyway and make sure I don't miss anything. I appreciate your efforts and for creating a fantastic game.

I'm deeply embarrassed by the trouble I've caused you who have lost your save files. The newest build (3635) contains the fixes from 3633 and a debug menu you can use to recreate your save file.

Ultimately it is your decision on whether to start a new game from scratch or with our tool, but for those who would like to get back into the game relatively close to where they left off here are the instructions:

First, create a new save file, and wait for the opening sequence to play out. Once you have control, open the menu with esc or "p". Once it opens, press "9". Close the menu with escape or "p". Finally, open the menu again. A new button titled "debug" should be available. In it, there is a button titled "Edit Save". Clicking on one of the "beat" buttons will update your save - for example if you want to recreate a save file that had beaten the rainforest level click on both the beach and rainfroest buttons. After that, restart the level with the button found in the debug menu. You'll find yourself back in Zeneth - you'll need to place the talisman back into the pool. After throwing one in the vortex may spawn another. Make sure you throw all of them in before talking to the guardian.

Falco, the fix worked fine. I had made it through the first level except for one rune. Thanks for providing a solution. It may not be to everyone's liking, but does work for me.

Imagine my horror when I started the game this morning to play and all my saves were GONE!! I will try your fix and am crossing my fingers.

Falco, saved game has failed once again - that's two complete resets in as many days. I give up, game is now deleted and will not be played again.

Playing the game by using a debug tool to "gift" the levels isn't what I expected. Unfortunately, I can't get a refund through Steam. Lesson learned - stick with mainstream channels.

I'm not sure if I understand. You were able to save a game as stated by your last message - did that one disappear as well? Check your save files in steamapps\common\XING\XING\Saved\SaveGames to see if any backup files exist. If you were playing on the newest build, they should be there. You can remove "_Backup" to use them in game.

I'm terribly sorry this has affected you so severely. Hopefully the backup files exist so you can go on playing. Otherwise, message me at info@xingthegame.com and I'll recreate your save file personally.

I was not affected by this until today. Loaded up and my save is gone along with all my settings. Sent an email to get a new save file.
