With Patch #15 just out, it's finally time for Ivan to enter the podium.

The Story

Strong as he was, Ivan seemed hollow from inside as chairman Pinkerton led him up the stage in the Society's main hall before the eyes of all other explorers. It was clear he had at all no desire to be on the podium right now, let alone to be judged by his friends. "Stand tall, Ivan, I'm sure this will change everything for you.", but Pinkerton's words hardly had any effect on Ivan's abnormally weak composure. Then the chairman turned to the audience, expert explorers every single one of them. "As you all know, I have given mister Dashkov the assignment to go on a campaign to represent the society. So far nobody has signed up to join this important journey, so I stand here before you to ask once again: who will join this brave man on his journeys?". It was silent for a while, many explorers looked at their feet. It was obvious few of them were inspired by the idea of Ivan as their captain. Then the silence was broken by a loud growl. Everybody turned to Kiwi, who was smiling timidly. "Sorry! I haven't eaten in the entire past hour..". Pinkerton shook his head with disapproval when Ivan came up close to him and whispered something in his ear. Chairman Pinkerton seemed to be entertained and addressed the present explorers again. "Captain Dashkov, a man of support and generosity, offers all of his crew the perk of all-you-can-eat meals on every expedition. No stomach will growl as long as you travel with him!" A few seconds and stumbles later four explorers had raced to the podium, volunteering to join, feeling very inspired all of a sudden. This is the chance Ivan needs to prove himself as a captain...

The Rules

A simple, but hard challenge: Pick Ivan as your captain, and pick your other crewmembers from Dolores, Jan-Piet, Kiwi and Phillipe.

- Your captain should be Ivan.
- Pick your other crewmembers among the following 4: Dolores, Jan-Piet, Kiwi and Phillipe.

- Your score is your Renown.
- Play on Adventure Mode.
- Play on any Difficulty.

The Goals

BRONZE: 2000 Renown (1 Medal Points*)
SILVER: 4500 Renown (2 MP*)
GOLD: 7000 Renown (3 MP*)
PLATINUM: 9000 Renown**
* Number of medal points awarded when playing on Classic Difficulty. Easy and Normal give less, according to these rules.
** The platinum medal is extraordinary and can only be achieved on Classic or Impossible difficulty. It doesn't increase Medal Points, but we will track how many you have.

STORY MEDAL: Why is Ivan an uninspiring leader to many? What type of leader is he actually? How will this crew's journey develop? Will the explorers at home change their opinion of Ivan when they come back? Will Ivan overcome his fear, or will he never lead again? Write a story with the challenge constraints as inspiration.

We're keeping track of all the medals you gained in the Hall of Fame.

How to participate

You can participate with a highscore, a story or both.

I've just finished one game(gameover at usual encouter in Shangri-la)
What's wrong with this?Maybe my movement in tactical combat is something bad I think...

And I wonder how you guys earn such many treasures in each expeditions,I can earned only one or two treasures in each 2nd,3rd,4th expeditions this time(I could go around almost of the map each time with heavy hunger penalty).
Is it simply for bad luck?Or I could choose some wiser selections?

Anyway I'll try once more later,I WILL NEVER GO TO SHANG IN CLASSIC ANYMORE!!

Remember the perks needed to get the treasures and make sure your crew have those perks on future runs. Often if you don't have the perks you don't even get a chance at the treasure.

Yeah,I think it's the point between beginner and vetaran.
Though I can't remember all of what perk can gives you a chance to get a treasure...

You can get a good idea from the description of individual expedition. It mentions the perks you need, usually those are the ones you need for treasures. It helps to read the treasure guide of course, some of the requirements are very specific so it's almost impossible if you didn't know beforehand. When picking your team, try to envisage which expeditions you will go for and try to match your characters' perks with those expeditions. If you want to go to Shangrila, try to have a character designed to take each of the 3 keys, it helps if you have tools from Engineering and/or Anthropology in case you can't get enough perks for specific treasures/checks.

Well got my second completion done - which moves me from Bronze to Silver. Am finding this challenge pretty tough because of Ivan's handicap and the big limitation on party members overall.

6977 renown with Ivan, Kiwi and Philippe. The decisions that probably cost me:

Picked Rio over Asian Jobs, and then I didn't have enough renown to pick up all the specialists and had only 2 helpers in total. Only 15 renown per insight. I made Kiwi into L3 Survivalist, L4 Diplomat, L4 Archaeologist at the end for 7 tokens per insight at one of the African cities. No helper to enhance insight return though.

Probably chose the wrong renown bonus, 100% gold when I was getting a lot of science too.

Wrong token-specific specialist at Rio, +6 Research for Study because I wanted to quickly unlock a tech to get an extra encounter token from insight but probably should have went for +20-25 gold from Encounter after picking +100% renown for gold.

Pick Athlete for first upgrade for Ivan instead of Naturalist which may have given me an extra treasure at Carribean. Picked Philippe over Ivan to go climb the tree at Carribean and missed a treasure for sure, but the text said that there were hidden bounties, I thought Philippe's Engineer and Rogue would surely get one...

Edit: no free perk at Egypt too. I was banking on getting Occult there.
Ivan's captain bonus is nice, +4 supplies at the end.

They was not much more I can do at Shangrila after those decisions, rolled every wheel, explored most of the map, even got max 75 renown out of Crowned Thorns. Oh well, that's it from me for this challenge. Another challenge next week.


There are a lot of little bugs with display with the new patch and my computer was struggling after the update too. Bit confusing the collect token now looks like the old treasure token, I like how it was before. The ripples from Will Breaker and Power Booster looks cool. I like the colour icons for perks in wheelspin checks too.

Tried Impossible mode for novelty. Died at Egypt with attack penalties. The enemies hit hard. One hit and your team is in danger of losing.

ugh, for some reason I really struggled this time, I had to redo my first adventure cause it was just failing in my 4th expedition, such a shame. Anyways, a decent silver:

Also, sometimes while playing the mood stays the same for a lot of turns while I am obviously spamming my aggresive attacks (still tense after 2-3 turns of only using aggresive attacks). Here is another screenshot:
