What would you recommend?

I love them both, but I gotta say Divinity right now. I'm enjoying it more than I enjoyed Pillars

What are your preferences? have you played stuff like baldurs gate or icewind dale?
qualitywise i would treat the games as equal, so it really comes down to what you like personally.

If you like TB combat, Divinity II. If you like RTwP and $15 DLCs, PoE.

All of the above, Shadows of Amn / Throne of Bhaal were probably my faves, also played Dragon Age / Origins...

Prefer RTwP to be fair, never really got on with turn based stuff for some reason, having said that last turn based game I played I think I loaded up on 1.44Mb floppy disks.

$15 DLCs I'm not so keen on - might wait for the sale to get those...

if you love the BG series than it's Pillars for sure.

I can tell you this - for the best RPG ever created as some ppl call Divinity 2 it doesn't even have a world map and all spells/abilities have no voice lines to them i.e. spellcasting is completely silent. Just read some reviews of Divinity 2 both positive and negative and decide for yourself.

If you have an Xbone or a PS4 you can get the "complete" edition for one low(ish) price. Getting the base game plus both DLCs would be cheaper that way at any rate.
Only find it funny how some people use the names "Divinity II" and "Divinity 2" for D:OS 2. Divinity II is a completely different game than Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Now you have me wondering if the OP actually did mean Divinity II instead of D:OS 2 as I assumed.

Both good.

Never played the second divinity yet, but divinity 1 had way more fun combat but story was lame and it was less of a crpg than pillars. Basically divinity was all about combat and pillars is 50% combat and 50% dialogue options, reputations among factions and personality rep, and choices in quests.

Not being accurate can lead to confusion. Reminds me of the guys in another forum that talked about PoE, and while some of them had Path of Exile in mind, others meant Pillars of Eternity.

Sorry for the confusion - I was actually talking about Divinity: Original Sin II, ie the latest(?) release... (Wasn't aware there was a difference - my bad :steamfacepalm:)

I agree with psychotron666. When compared to D:OS 1, Pillars of Eternity has a much better story, and combat is less of a focus.

Seeing as you preferred Baldur's Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal to Icewind Dale, I would recommend Pillars. That said, if combat is the main draw for you, D:OS 2 may be more to your liking.
