Game executables are "not valid WIN32" applications

Hey there,

I picked up the game earlier this week, and I downloaded it today. However, when I ran the game it gave me an "unknown error" in steam. I tried loading the game directly from the files rather than through Steam, but it threw up an error message at me saying that QUALIA3.exe is not a valid WIN32 application. Same with the config executable. I tried uninstalling and re-downloading but it didn't work. I should also note that I can run the original Japanese version perfectly fine (despite it being laggy somewhat) - I know it's a completely re-optimized type version, but it shouldn't cause this kind of error surely?

I'm running Win XP SP3 (Not using 7 since it makes my poor laptop cry)
