<< Older patch

Hey everyone, we've put together a new patch that should (at least attempt to) address the biggest issues we've had with the game so far:

  • Testing a new multi-monitor support mode. Not sure if this will help at all. If you have problems with multi-monitor setups, you can enter windowed mode with ALT-ENTER and resize the window at will (as a placeholder so you can still play the game)
  • Added a draft controller-opt-in system. This should prevent unused controllers from grabbing input, and will allow a keyboard player to play with a controller. This also lets you sign up to fight 3 Stanleys at once! (though playing with more than 2 players is experimental). Left-bumper (or Shift) to remove Stanleys, right-bumper (or space) to add Stanleys.
  • Added some new controllers:
    - PS3 on Windows
    - Generic XBox pad on Linux
    - Mega World Thrustmaster dual analog on Linux
    - Razer Sabertooth Elite on Windows
    - XEOX Gamepad on Windows
    - F310 Gamepad on Windows
    - MadCatz Generic on Windows
  • Decreased pause time on hit, increased flash time on hit
  • Rocket color tweaks
  • Moved the launchpads to all rest on the screaming whale
  • Temporarily capped the game at 4 players
  • Fixed a few glitches in the team select mode
  • New intimidatingly-colored gray rockets for Stanley.

Note that the game is currently balanced to be best played with 2 rockets on the screen. Playing "underdog mode" (2 on 1) can be fun with higher level players, but we don't think it's as fun with newer players at this point (mostly because the camera stays zoomed out a lot).

I like where your taking this game so far. I just noticed that Stanley doesn't work well in groups. I have trouble taking on one Stanley, but I have no problem with three. They seem pretty bad about friendly fire. Also, they tried to go directly through the ground to reach me and blew each other up. I was underneath them, but they didn't know how to reach me.

Thanks for the praise! Right now any number of players >2 is pretty experimental, it's why we put the "not recommended!" on the page. We mainly put it in there to give people the option if they want to experiment. Stick to one-on-one for now!

after adding two players and two stanleys changing rocket colors always crashes pretty bad. picking colors before you bring the stanleys in works out though.
great job these latest tweaks are tightening everything up nicely. 2v2 was hectic and hard to discern but 2 v 1 feels pretty cool. never felt so on top of my game than with two opponets.
