Despite the fact that I'm giving it a thumbs up, I do not recommend this game. But it IS a great work of fiction (or maybe not so fictional?) and THIS is why I will never recommend it to anyone whose mental stability I am not 100% confident in.
This story is about a simple man, suffering from a severe case of depression, and it is everything you think it could be, and yes, it ends exactly how you sucpect it to end - in a grim, but realistic way. The thing that makes this not so original story great is the bluntness and intimacy it is told with. The author honestly tells in your face a lot of well expressed thoughts you will definitely not like to read without being afraid to call a spade a bloody shovel.
The thing that makes this exceptional is that it will most likely cause you, the player, to pick out parts of these thoughts that you truly can relate to (hopefully not all of them), and you involuntarily start to remember all the related stuff from your life, and believe me, it's not the the stuff you want to remember, like, ever.
I am not qualified in psychiatry, so I can not make predictions of how this story can influence a person, who is undergoing a struggle with depression. Will it show you that while it is bad, it is not as bad as it can get if you don't turn for help to somebody? Or will it instead worsen the situation to an extreme extent?
That is why I will not recommend this game to anyone with such problems, or even the hints of the like. Even if you're just a person with a sensitive emotional state like I am, think thrice before playing it, for it can mess up your day for good.
If it can cause such feelings though, ain't that a great piece of art?
