Old games labeled as 'just released'

Black Mirror III and of course its predecessors are from 2011, 2009 and 2003 respectively. Just take it, and any bugs with a grain of salt as this is never going to be updated. Have a good day and maybe spend your money elsewhere.

Download versions should already be the latest versions available. No patchwork needed. However technical support is available from Encore directly should you need it.

...so...what? An old game loses all inherent value, is that the point of this post? I really can't tell.

I'm not sure what you're getting at really, but if that is the point then, ummm...no. Releasing old games on Steam is a perfect way for fans of old to acquire a copy that will work on their current hardware/software (many of the games as they were simply won't play on newer stuff, or take more faffing about than they're worth), and is also a good way for people who missed the bus back when it came out to check them out. If a game is good then it doesn't suddenly lose all entertainment and fiscal value the moment a year or two passes so people can call it "Old", "Old" obviously not being synonymous with "Bad".

I mean if that wasn't your point then ignore me, but I can't figure out what else this topic was trying to say. Other than you might not get as much updating as you would for a new/major release. Though unless the game's just horrible one would hope it's already in it's final and best patch from when it was released. Beyond that, that's totally not true as I've seen plenty of old games get released on Steam and the devs still stick around to iron out any kinks the release might have.

Oh well.

It wasn't about any sort of old equating to bad. I apologize if it came off that way. It was more or less me being irked that Steam doesn't say the original release dates of the games to announce it was an old game. The fact it was released in 2011 and appears on Steam in 2014 is perfectly well and good. What isn't fine is it being in the same list as the new releases pushing the actual new releases down the list and even off the front page.

The term "pushing" is a little bit misguided

Perhaps the term lazy is a bit more warranted. There will always be new releases on Steam in which they come out. Any other releases that hide others is easily found by pressing the more button to see which are released. For the time being - I guess the main page shows a certain amount of releases - it's probably in the HTML code and it won't show you the rest unless you click the button to show you so.


In the case of this game it's a surprise release. There are no coming soon dates or what have you. It's just being published as a surprise. And a welcome addition for some users :) For other people, there will always be criticism :)

And I'm not against you , or any of the other gamers here. I am for you. If there is anything you would like to see in an improved experience for Viva Media please post here and I will gladly pass on the feedback to the company so you can track it's progress :)

I tried it and it runs. I haven't had the time to play much, but it works for my new computer (Windows 8.1). That was not the case with other old games. I bought Post Mortem, very excited about it, and I could never run it.

Most people are lazy - navigating lists in steam is a PITA, as they keep resetting!

Could be a lost sale - several devs have stated that front page is a considerable boost to their sales.

Imagine someone who only games at the weekend, he/she might not load steam til then!
