Yeah, no. It's the earliest version of a series which is highly iterative, and this has no plot as such and far inferior features. Skip to Albion Prelude (or Terran Conflict if your mods support it), if you must play this game. (hint: you don't, they're all horrible)

go and be casual somewhere else

Your named after a Fcking Shreck character. These games really arent that bad, there actually pretty good. And that's coming from someone who at first thought they looked boring.

iam lvl 29 lvl means year my age and lets talk about this piece of garbage, it isnt, x tension was my irst space trader shooter, let me free hand to do what i want, my profile is open, iam only 3 years on steam, gott a few games and 1600 games in my house, i played all and even now i can remember everything from xtension, my first trade with solar and my first computer facility and the confusion what it needs xD. Maybe it has nearly no story, but what else will you do when you are screwed in another universe? In the first x game you could loose yourself and after, yeha everything is oyurs, after 5 hours gameplay you are able to buld everything, in albion prelude it takes like month to get your facilitys, everything takes so long. So dont judge old games, they are the start for games you play now.

Yeah, it's a highly subjective matter. This type of game certainly isn't for everyone, so many people won't enjoy it. I, however, do. Quite a bit, actually. I played X: Beyond the Frontier quite extensively back in the day, it has been a big part of my childhood... back then the idea to be able to change between ships was an amazing one to me, since the original game didn't have that. Sadly x-tension was impossible to get at the time, no store I visited had it in stock (and internet purchases weren't really possible for me at the time), so being able to play it now, almost 14 years later, is a real treat.

Yes, the game has its fair share of problems. It is very slow paced. And by very slow paced I mean VEEEEEERY slow paced. The controls take some getting used to as well - and especially in the beginning the difficulty curve is more a difficulty cliff, with spikes at the bottom and a few landmines sprayed all over it, for good measure.

However, that being said - it is still fun. So, if you enjoy slow paced games that are really more about trading and exploring, than they are about fighting and an involving story - do try this game out. It might just be the thing for you.

If you don't mind staring at your screen for a few minutes while your ship moves from point a) to point b), that is. I forgot how annoying that was. At least nowadays I can browse the web on the side.

Merely realise that X-Tension is the 2nd game of the series, so it doesn't tell you the plot from the beginning, and that in X-Tension, there is no main plot, as it is almost like a free roam unlike X-BTF or later games. I can tell why you don't want to play this, I've had the same experience. It is beyond slow, and there isn't much of instructions, but think as if they had forgotten the instruction part of the game, and you had to learn by yourself or over the internet. And Just remember, this was made in 2000.

Regardless, the contents are actually much more interesting than you think. Sure, its hard to start, but once you get the rhythm, it turns to a magical experience (not exactly), and you are left wanting more. I went to X-Tension, wasn't exactly what I wanted, perhaps this game needs a bit improvement, but even then, future games like X2: The Threat are more fun than the previous, and though each game requires you to sit there for a while to get used to new mechanics, but other than that, its a working experience.

So, if you are to complain that this game is simply nothing, I suggest you reconsider, and play the first game with a few hours in your hand. Once you get going, its easy to forget the time. Then you can really move on to X-Tension, or even X2. Your choice
