Game won't start FAQ
If the game fails to start, see which of these 3 cases match your situation:

1) You get this error message:
HRESULT: [0x887A0022], Module: (SharpDX.DXGI), ApiCode: DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE/NotCurrentlyAvailable

This error is sometimes caused by the video card when switching to fullscreen. Simply retrying should fix it.

2) You get this error message:
System.InvalidOperationException
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media.MediaQueue.Play(Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media.Song)

It may be because the game is missing some files that it depends on for playing music and video. The XNA framework uses audio utilities from the Windows Media Player .dlls, which are assumed to be available on every Windows machine.

SUGGESTIONS:
If you don't have it, you can try to install Windows Media Player.

On Windows 10, this may be helpful:
https://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/windows-media-player-in-fall-creators-update-windows-10/

OR
If you don't want to install Windows Media Player, there is a workaround here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/284100/discussions/0/540737414562663604/

3) You get this error message:
System.InvalidOperationException
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media.VideoPlayer.Play(Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media.Video)

This one may appear if XNA didn't find the video codec that it needs to play video.

SUGGESTIONS:
Try re-installing Windows Media Player to repair the missing codecs.
OR
Try installing "K Lite Codec Pack" or "K Lite Codec Full" to get the codecs from a different source.
OR
You can start the game without video playback (it only affects the background video on the title screen):
-Find Options.xml (under Documents/Unclaimed World)
Edit the tag "PlayVideo" like so:
<PlayVideo>false</PlayVideo>

4) You get NO error message:
If the game fails to start WITHOUT presenting an error message, the file Errors.txt in the game folder should have information.

If not, then the Windows Event Log on your computer should have more information about the error.

HERE IS A GUIDE for how to access it:
http://forum.unclaimedworld-game.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2585

When you've retrieved the error message, see if it matches one of the above.
If you're still unable to solve it, contact us here in this thread/forum or email us.

Hi!

I just googled this error which I have not seen before, and found this:

"It appears that this error is due to not having Windows Media Player installed or configured properly on your computer.

Apparently, the XNA framework decided to lift numerous audio utilities from the Windows Media Player .dlls, which I suppose Microsoft just assumes are available on every Windows machine."
...

So, one thing to try would be to install Windows Media Player...

Can you take a look in the Windows event log?

From googling, this may be a video codec problem, but more information would be helpful.

Do you have Windows Media Player? Otherwise, see if installing it helps.

I have researched a bit...
Do you have a program called AC3Filter installed/running..? If so, perhaps try disabling/uninstalling it.

no i don't have it. I searched all drives. I believe it's a codec for Divx Player, so I will uninstall that and retry as well.

Edit: no, didn't work.
