Tank Armies Destroyed By Bombardment?

Hi.

I'm playing the Russians in the East vs West scenario. I have a fully upgraded level 5 tank army in Northern Italy, strength is around 27. It's in a rear echelon, there are no enemy units nearby.

Between turns it gets destroyed, not by an attack, but by some sort of bombardment. But I can't see what or why.

And I've never been able to completely destroy one of the enemies best units through bombardment before. Sure, I can grind it down to low strength, but I've never seen a unit completely destroyed through bombardment.

So does anybody know what's happening here? It happens pretty much every time the AI takes its turn, one or two of my units just disappear completely from the map.

Am I maybe being nuked or something?

You can check it in the report section (bet you don't check that one too often ), but I imagine you are being bombarded by one of the enemy ships. Check the adjacent sea regions. Also, if you haven't been using that feature yourself, I sincerely advise you to do so, it can significantly soften enemy units =)

No, no, I didn't even know there was a report section. I will have to see if I can find that. :)

The naval aspect is one that I really haven't used much in this game so far, because it's not entirely clear what is happening and why. So mostly my fleets just sit in ports and get bombed occasionally. Because whenever I sortie them, they don't seem to achieve much.

the menu to the right second button from the bottom, if I am not mistaken. Select your country then the appropriate report.
Navy is useful for sinking enemy ships that bombard you, preventing invasions, blocking off convoys, etc. I am still discovering all of its uses, too. Good luck =)
