A Gift for the SR2 Community
I've said before that I didn't intend to go here, but it just seemed so strange that this hadn't been done yet. That and once I found some suitable source assets, the test cases turned out pretty nicely so I ended up continuing.

And so, we have this:

Do your shipset mods only add ships or do they change other aspects of the game?

They can be used either way. DOF is split up into a bunch of parts. The shipset are just that - only a shipset. The Main DOF has all the gameplay changes, pre-made designs, sounds, custom weapons, custom icons, UI tweaks, etc. The shipsets are set up intended to be used with DOF Main (flagship vs support splits, etc) though.

You can choose to use it either way.

The shipset is the shipet mod. The link to it is in the OP.

You will also need to subscribe to the DOF Common Library. It is marked as a required item in the workshop page. It contains the shaders, etc that are shared between the DOF mods. The shipset will not work properly unless the Common Library is at least present.

You do not have to sub to the Faction Add-On (the "Main" mod) unless you want the gameplay elements.

Ahhh that's what was throwing me. I thought the common library was the main mod :D

Nope. Just a support mod. Had to be split out to allow the usage flexibility without a ton of duplication and conflicts.

Thanks. The "final" released version of the cube went through some revisions after that shot was taken and has a bit different material properties now but should look pretty close (if not better) yet. It's not quite as smooth and shiny, but has more bump and corrected texture usage (my first draft missed the secondary texture).

The released cube can be seen in the Unicomplex shot here:

So what race will use the Borg Ship set ?
I just looked at the start screen and among the races I saw no Borg race.
Or my guess is you can use the Ship set of Borg to custom an other race.

Dolynick usually makes a shipset first, then builds up the race after a while. It'll probably come around in the next couple of DOF patches.

Generally, that's true. We'll see though. Unlike many other races, the Borg do present some serious balancing issues. They would also not fit within the confines of any of the standard races, so something customized would be called for. In many ways, what I see for them is similar to what I have had in mind for the Cylon for a while... I just haven't gotten around to trying to recode an AI to support it.
