If you're fine with modding, you can try to find (or more likely, make yourself) a small mod that unlocks the storage building for sublights. You could also tie it to some tech (new or existing), so that it isn't available at start but becomes available later.
If you want to try and make a minimod for this, ask here, I could help you with it. I did it once before -- in Rising Stars you can reasearch FTL even if you start as sublight (it's very expensive), but it wouldn't give you the FTL storage building, so I set it to unlock with FTL research, not only through traits.
I just checked, and that particular issue was fixed when 1.1.0 released back in February.
-------------------------------------
Good luck with the game, it's fun :)
I made a small mod just for that, hope the link will work: https://www.sendspace.com/file/izlc43
Took me several times longer to make the picture than to mod the building, heh.
How it works in the mod is, "no FTL Storage for sublight, unless you're Mechanoid". Other sublight races will not have the building. If you want FTL Storage for other sublights as well, remove from FTLStorage.txt the line #18, it starts with "RequireEither".
Installation: download the zip file, unzip into your "Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Ruler 2\mods\" folder. If "mods" folder is not present, create it first. Launch the game, enable the "Mono FTL Storage" mod. I don't know if it will work for games in progress (try it), but from a few quick tests it works as intended for new games.
Troubleshooting: if it doesn't show up in the "Mods" menu ingame, check the folder structure. When unzipping, sometimes a new folder is created. The folder "monoFTLstorage" should have 2 files ("logo.png" and "modinfo.txt") and a single folder ("data", that's where modded files go).
(BTW, judging from your handle, you're from ex-yu area :) if so, pozdrav druze, sretno ti bilo!)
I hope your changes were in a separate mod, though - if you made them directly in the mod's files, you'll have to remove them in order to ensure compatibility with 1.2.0.
Zanimljivo... vrlo zanimljivo... ;)
Yep, even after the asteroid expires you'll still have 50 FTL capacity.
Bwahaha xD
Really? Huh, I never noticed that, I'll have to pay more attention next time!
(I should probably put it on the Workshop or ModDB or something, but that seems like such a drag... If anyone else wants to do it, they have my permission :D )
Can't help you there - I really don't like multiplayer! But if you have any questions, ask on the forum.
Also, there are several topics here where newbies asked for advice. Try searching for "hints", "advice", "noob", "newb" and similar terms. It could answer some questions you didn't even know you have :) And don't forget to check the guides.
Good luck!
however i do lack experience... so far the only thing i can beat is AIs on easy...
