Mono without FTL drives
I read its doable, however i cant find any way to make FTL storage, even after full research! Without being able to store it i cant even colonize (ironically i can produce ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of it, but its all for naught as i cannot make any storage)!

Oh and another thing how do i make the resources like unobtanium change to a specific resource that i want... like FTL krystals or somethin!

Yeah, sublight races don't get FTL storage building, and there is no way to research it. There is an anomaly that asks you to choose between FTL generation and FTL storage, and AFAIK that's the only way to get more FTL storage in vanilla.

If you're fine with modding, you can try to find (or more likely, make yourself) a small mod that unlocks the storage building for sublights. You could also tie it to some tech (new or existing), so that it isn't available at start but becomes available later.

If you want to try and make a minimod for this, ask here, I could help you with it. I did it once before -- in Rising Stars you can reasearch FTL even if you start as sublight (it's very expensive), but it wouldn't give you the FTL storage building, so I set it to unlock with FTL research, not only through traits.
Well so far... my only way of expanding is the boring diplomatic grab and spam... i am new to the game so i could use a tutor, so far am i yet to just learn not to loose money, and fully upgrade planets... i have no idea how to mod but a storage mod would sure as hell be welcome! I guess i will have to redo my setup and make it more similar to default...

I just checked, and that particular issue was fixed when 1.1.0 released back in February.

Indeed, I was just looking through the files, and noticed that it was fixed :) I was talking about an old version, timestamp on my modified file is July 2016. It's also a bit more involved than yours - instead of removing the requirement, I set it to unlock when you have any FTL type, specifically I changed it to:
RequireEither( RequireUnlockTag(HasFling), RequireEither( RequireSubsystemUnlocked(GateModule), RequireEither( RequireSubsystemUnlocked(Hyperdrive), RequireEither( RequireSubsystemUnlocked(Jumpdrive), RequireEither( RequireSubsystemUnlocked(Slipstream), RequireTrait(Flux) ) ) ) ) )
An overkill, and I'm sure there's a better way (like, say, removing the requirement :P), but it worked as I wanted :) I intended to submit the bug and my fix to you, but never got around to it. Sorry about that!

Good luck with the game, it's fun :)

I made a small mod just for that, hope the link will work: https://www.sendspace.com/file/izlc43

Took me several times longer to make the picture than to mod the building, heh.

How it works in the mod is, "no FTL Storage for sublight, unless you're Mechanoid". Other sublight races will not have the building. If you want FTL Storage for other sublights as well, remove from FTLStorage.txt the line #18, it starts with "RequireEither".

Installation: download the zip file, unzip into your "Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Ruler 2\mods\" folder. If "mods" folder is not present, create it first. Launch the game, enable the "Mono FTL Storage" mod. I don't know if it will work for games in progress (try it), but from a few quick tests it works as intended for new games.

Troubleshooting: if it doesn't show up in the "Mods" menu ingame, check the folder structure. When unzipping, sometimes a new folder is created. The folder "monoFTLstorage" should have 2 files ("logo.png" and "modinfo.txt") and a single folder ("data", that's where modded files go).

(BTW, judging from your handle, you're from ex-yu area :) if so, pozdrav druze, sretno ti bilo!)

I hope your changes were in a separate mod, though - if you made them directly in the mod's files, you'll have to remove them in order to ensure compatibility with 1.2.0.

Zanimljivo... vrlo zanimljivo... ;)
If you build a mining base on an FTL crystal asteroid you get extra FTL capacity.

Yep, even after the asteroid expires you'll still have 50 FTL capacity.

They aren't - I wasn't sure about file priorities and such, and I also made some tweaks to the tech tree. So I kind of made a private fork by copying the entire folder and sticking "[custom]" to the mod name :) I think I kept using it for a while even after the "official" version was updated to 1.1.0 and beyond... I guess that's why I didn't notice the bugfix :)

Really? Huh, I never noticed that, I'll have to pay more attention next time!
Pozdrav! and thanks for the mod!
The mod works better than i thought! Now i only need to find someone who can teach me to be better at this game... compared to AIs i am too slow!

Glad to hear that. Have fun!

(I should probably put it on the Workshop or ModDB or something, but that seems like such a drag... If anyone else wants to do it, they have my permission :D )

Can't help you there - I really don't like multiplayer! But if you have any questions, ask on the forum.

Also, there are several topics here where newbies asked for advice. Try searching for "hints", "advice", "noob", "newb" and similar terms. It could answer some questions you didn't even know you have :) And don't forget to check the guides.

Good luck!
Did the reading and stuff so not much point doin more of it
however i do lack experience... so far the only thing i can beat is AIs on easy...
