I have posted one or two threads before with no response. :/ I need help making a few things I have read the Wiki on the subject but I cannot figure out how to make a shipset. I built a Warpdrive FTL. It works, but when I start the game it has no starting ships and no blueprints. I think I need to make a Shipset for it. I have never modded before.

I can upload what I have so far of the mod, if anyone wants to take a look. It's a Warpdrive. It has increased starting cost and I want to try to make it cost a bit more Energy than the regular hyper drive but not quite as much as the Jump drives. I'm really not asking anyone to make the mod for me just a little bit of help on what I need to do to finish it up.

You have to make those and put them in the right mod subfolders. You also have to edit the ftl trait to load them from that folder.

No, you do not have to make an actual shipset for it to be available to a player. Shipsets are completely separate from designs and subsystems. The shipset is just the visual model and has no in-game effect other than that.

I'm really not asking anyone to make the mod for me just a little bit of help on what I need to do to finish it up.

There is actually a lot more to adding a new FTL than just the subsystem, trait and designs. There is a script back-end that has to be modified to recognize the new ftl type and how to use it. Otherwise the game doesn't know how to do targetting, ranging, costs, and all that.

Maybe you've done this already, but by the sounds of things, I have doubts.

Thanks for the reply dolynick. I have the subsystem, traits, and the designs all done. Though with the scripting and my lack of any actual programming knowledge it seems that this will be nothing more than that. At least it is at a state where I can play it now and have the starting blueprints and ships. I did manage to find all that. Minus of course the extra cost to the subsystem hexes and the energy used. Anyway thanks again. Perhaps now I can let this idea RIP.
