What Do I do, who am I?

So, what's the point of playing this game! I've played it for awhile and I'm like, okay, combat's kinda fun, story's fairly boring and has annoying quests like search for smugglers for hours, I was wondering what new ship to get, and seems like everyone says keep the Saber. So I mean... Am I playing just to build a big fleet or what? Seems like a fun game, I wanna get into it really, but if there's no upgrades from my ship it's kinda boring imo. Unless I heard wrong?!

There are other parts, but you'll have to get the idea of what to do and where to go and plan your sandbox on how you want to play "your" game.

The thing with the X games is you do whatever you want to, however you want to. There is a main plotline, but you don't even have to follow it if you don't want to. A lot of games today will tell you to do this and then do this, the X games have always been "Do whatever you want in whatever way you want".

Oho well, I'm familiar with freeroaming games, it just kinda feels like the options for doing whatever you want are limitted. I've played my fair share of freeroaming space games and this one is the only one where it feels like... You can't really upgrade at all lol. I'll check out those fun vids though!

Sounds like you picked the wrong start. Also the main plot missions hand everything over to you, no real effort (or thought) is needed to make progress. To me, combat is boring (and useless) except when it has a purpose, for example a ship I need, etc.

Try the goner witness start, with 4 restrictions...

1. No terran plot missions...none...

2. You cannot sell your starting ship, your ranger is handcrafted by the members of the order with genuine argnu leather and handspun clothrimes. This ship represents you faith, it's not to be exchanged for money.

3. You are not to engage in any illegal activity, such as smuggling, or especially piracy, otherwise the ritual cleansing will have to be administered.

4. You cannot kill anything...nuff said...nothing can excuse this except banishment from our illustrious order.

If you find yourself scaving missiles, or grinding poor paying missions, you're not playing it right. Stop, think, and try again.

P.S. There's a reg hack to enable the other starts if you don't see the 'goner witness' start.

As a goner initiate, your task is to help us complete the new goner temple, com the Ozias to find out what's needed.

I have added a few items to your ship to make this easier, some you can sell directly, some you have to load onto a ship and then sell the ship (NOT your ranger)...or you may keep them if you wish. The energy cells are for increasing your rep so you can buy new or used ships and barter with the argons. Sell them one at a time at an argon station until you get the rep increase. This should be enough to get you started...good luck and may Terra be with you...
