custom game?

I want to start a custom game as a male Terran- with possibly a small trade vessel, but there seems to be no options- I always start out as an Argonian with 1 ship- a Buster..
I have played the Argom merchant start-just wanted something different.
I suppose there may be a way to set up the custom start through an ini file? or am imissing something in game?

There is no 'real' custom game,like one you set up...From what I've heard, it's for testing mods and doesn't have any storyline missions.

ok, thanks. I guess I'll try the x-tended mod that has some different starts. I was just wanting to learn the game alittle more before getting into the larger game mod. Although I pre purchased this game long ago- I have just started to get into enough to understand how it works..
(thanks to the you tube walkthroughs) you tube was not around when this game originally was released. :p
