X Superbox Not a one loads

Loading any game results in X start Menu where you choose configuration. Clicking start opens the game to initial black loading screen and instantly a Not responding windows warning with CTD. I own most of the series already and it all works perfectly installed from disk. I only purchased steam version for the few extra bits I was missing and the convenience of putting away the disks. None of the work arounds suggested on any support site works though I suspect it is a codec issue. Any ideas how to trace it with no error logs? Or just simply get it to load?

Devs are useless and Steam doesnt seem to care. Having spent literally thousands of dollars on unplayable games, I am not accepting it anymore and will overturn my credit card purchase.

Try the Linux version. It works like a charm… ;-)

I do not have Linux... I did get this to work on my laptop, but it refuses my PC...

Well, I can not promise anything for the Windows version, but the Linux version delivers a lot of messages when you start it from the console. So maybe if helps to start the .exe from the command prompt.

I have begun to guess it is a codec problem as it actually loads to the point of the initial video and then stops responding. I use Klite package and have no clue which codec it could be.
