Why is this beta?
I bought the X Superbox. This, and a couple other X games say this is the beta version? Am I missing somehting, or did the game just never get released past beta?

This is not beta. There must be a mistake.

Maybe, because the versions I have from the X3 Superbox, both clearly state at the startup screen, right before the game starts, that these are public test betas. (That is X3 - Reunion, X3 - Terran Assault, and X3 - Albion Prelude.)

And to top it off, the X3 - Albion Prelude won;t let me play the Suicide Suid type. It says a Steam connection is unavailable. What should I do? Should I contact Egosoft?

X3 Reuinion itself has been out for several years, in fact, at least 6 years. My youngest son is 6, and my ex was pregnant with my youngest son when i first started playing this game. I have the original discs that i got when i purchased the game from a Gamestop.

It took me a good month to probalby beat this game, and not due to any difficulty, it's just that there is so much to do in the game. Though you never physically get out of the cockpit of your craft, other than ejecting from your ship to lay claim to another ship, the game is very open. Thru storyline alone, you still can go off the beaten path and do other things as Jilian. Such things as making your own trade routes, or building your own solar array to collect energy. You can attach escort ships to your cargo ships to keep them protected... etc... etc... etc...

To answer any question as to is this in beta... NO IT IS NOT, at least not on a windows pc. For Mac users and other OS users, i would say it is possible it is in beta for yall. X3 terran conflict also has been out for at least 3 years, if not more. The aliian prelude on the other hand, i have never played so i cannot give feed back on that one.

My X3 reuinion i had to repurchase on steam, since the original discs worked on a DOS based system, never figured out hwo to get it running on my new PC. Anyway, back to topic, both X3 reunion and Terran Confict i have downloaded both thru steam, and neither of them crashes. It's not to say there arent issues with the game, but there is a chance, that some configuring, with the help of egosoft (if you can get them on the phone or thru some live chat), may be needed on your systems to keep it from crashing back to desktop.

Good Luck for those still tryin to get it fixed and hope you get the same opportunity that i've had to enjoy the X universe.
