2 Problems

OKay, so I have 2 problems. The main one is, that I bought this, on Steam, because my old copy is too fast, on the controls. When I TAP the esc. key, it cycles quickly from oprions to normal. This also happened with all other keys: A rapid cycling, to the point tha I cannot control anything. I though that this would be resolved, before it was brought to Steam, but it hasn't. Does anyone know about this? Second is that it will tell me my joystick is the active controller, yet nothing happens, with my X56. Any help there?
