New to Deus Ex
So, if I wanted to play the games in chonological order, I'd play HR, HR: Missing Link, Deus Ex, DE2: Invisible War? Unless of course HR plays on the fact that you should've already played the 1st two? Any responses or suggestions without spoilers would be most helpfull.

Yes. Chronologically speaking, you play about 3/4 of DX:HR, then the Missing Link, then the rest of DX:HR, then DX & IW. If you're looking for the whole story, there's also a novel (The Icarus Effect) set before DX:HR and a series of 6 comics set during the game.

There are some subtle nods to the first game thoughout HR, but if you havent played that it wont be a spoiler for you. It was more of a homage than anything. Be warned though, the original does look bad, even with the high res patch. However it's an awesome game and a lot more fun than HR or IW since it wasn't a console game. Lots of keys :D

@Rhenthyl - Lol how bad? I'm still good with the original Half-Life. As long as its somewhere between HL and HL2 I should be find with the graphics.

@Twig - So is there a Mission number or Title I should look for in order to stop playing HR and start Missing Link?

I'll try to tell you without too much of a spoiler - at some point in the game, your character will say that he is going off the grid for a bit. This is the point at which you play TML.

More specifically, on your second visit to Hengsha, you will go to a dock and board a ship. This is where you stop and play TML.

Ah, thank you for the video, and thank you twig for the info and adding blacked-out text, I'm sure I'll look at it for clarification when he says "off the grid".... *cue Tron flashback*

O.o ????? I'm so CONFUSED!!! I just finished HR + TML, I did every side mission, Hacked every computer, read every book (that I could find) but I still had no clue what was going on..... I feel like I missed 2/3rds of the story. Does the original Dues Ex have the same characters in the background? Like who the heck is Bob? Is he Janis or Illuminati? Why is Janis never mentioned again? Was David really just a greedy boss? I got the sence that he was on a side when he said he had been fighting Illuminati infuence. Its like everything after the Missing Link just sort of happend and Adam seems to know whats going on but I sure didn't. ? I love the gameplay and will play it again... 130+hrs was a lot of 1st playthrough, but ya... Am I the only one that just didn't get it?

I'm normaly the one that instantly grasps the deeper meaning, I realized that Adam was X when I visited the 1st Limb clinic and read his file. But I'm rather lost here.

Welll, correct me if im wrong but Bob Page is a major character in Deus Ex 1 so maybe that's why you're so confused at the ending.

you should've played deus ex 1 first. The ending of HR would've had a greater impact on you then (an omg moment in other words). You would've understood what was happening.

TBH the ending of this game is a bit lackluster with little impact. It was a good game but the ending was meh
