Can I "upgrade" to Augmented?
I bought the normal version ages ago, and now it seems I cannot buy the Augmented Edition at all, even at full price, much less an upgrade to get all the extra stuff.

What do I do :(

I want to know that, too.

Thanks.

bump (sorry for that).

Not to be snarky or anything, but you obviously didn't look very hard: http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/DD-DEHRAE/deus-ex-human-revolution-augmented-edition

It's full priceish, being £20 but it is still available.

If you want an upgrade your boned though, dosent happen. You can get a partial upgrade buying the two packs available (not missing link) that will give you access to the weapons and stuff, just not the extra features

I guess OP and I already own all the regular DLCs.
We both want the extras from the Augmented Edition.
But thanks.

I don't know if this will make a difference to what you want to buy or not, but the soundtrack that comes with the Augmented Edition is not the complete soundtrack. It only has about half the tracks. (You can get the full soundtrack from Amazon or iTunes.) However, the AE soundtrack files are uncompressed (.wav, not .mp3) so the sound quality is better. Just depends on what you want.

I suspect the only thing you might be able to do is to contact Valve customer service and ask them to remove the Deus Ex license from your library, and then re-buy the AE. Not a very cost-effective solution, I'll grant you, but that's all I can think of. Maybe somebody else can do better.

I guess this is a good alternative.
Unless SE provides an upgrade option.

If you just want the wepaons and stuff just buy the DLC stuff, since those are most of the stuff from the AE. franmkly i like that there's some definte perk to buying the AE version, even if it's just music and comic book

YES, YOU CAN!

This is how i did it:

Buy Aug edition, it says you own one and offer you to buy a gift instead, and you buy a gift but instead of sending it, put it your inventory!

After this write to steam support, this is what i wrote:

Title: Can not add Deus EX HR Aug. Edition to library
Category: Account Questions > Missing games on account

Today i purchased augumented edition of DXHR, but i cannot add it to my library to get all the extras such as digital art book, soundtrack, making of videos etc.
The reason of this is the fact that l purchased Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Standard Edition long ago, and steam dont allow to upgrade it to Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Augmented Edition, so i have no other choice but to put Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Augmented Edition on hold in my inventory and request your assistance and manual activation.

Could you please manually swap\exchange my subscription for Deus Ex Human Revolution from Standard Edition to Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Augmented Edition by putting my old Standard Edition in inventory so i can gift it someone, and activating Augumented version from my inventory instead?

Please be careful - all the DLC i have for Standard Edition
1) Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Explosion Pack DLC
2) Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Tactical Pack DLC
3) Deus Ex Human Revolution: The Missing Link DLC
was purchased separately from Standard Edition, so when you will swap my Standard Edition and Augmented Edition , please preserve all purchased DLC in my account (i mean - dont deactivate it while you will deactivate base game).

And a reply

Hello Kirill,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

I have removed the base game from your account so that you can activate the new one.

If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you.

Then i manually activated game from invenotry and downloaded all extras int TOOLs section.

However Valve cheated me on extra copy so i basically lost it, but whatever, this game was too cheap and i was too tired to waste time arguing. Si i consider it a 2$ upgrade, which is simply not automated via steam and needs manual override via tech support.

And a tip - if you have to do something you cant with steam, write to steam support!

A bad trade.
Well it is not the first time you buy a DLC or a certain version of a game, then you upgrade it later on and lose one DLC to the void.
Which means there is no extra DLC for gifting etc.
Hope they fix this in the future, but why being friendly or cooperative with paying customers at all.

Cheers and thanks for the details Voodooman.

The only time you get anything back is if it's a game wich gives you an extra copy. Other wise yeah you lose it. That's been steams policy for ages and i can't see them changing it.

The same applied to me when i bought eve onine, i bought it years ago but to get the new version i had to have the old game removed from my library. Steam did it but didn't give me a free copy. thats the price you pay for using steam games.

The thing is that they MUST give you extra copy, the fact they dont - is violation of your property and customer rights and illegal action performed by Valve. Actually if you have time and nerves you can go to court and you will 100% win this case and will force them to give away all 2nd copies for dublicate purchases or refund you every dublicate copy you lost. One day ill do it myself, and make them pay for every second copy i lost, i just dont have time atm to sue Valve for this and for regional locks which prevents me from using my games in case of relocation and traveling, which is agains laws again and violates my rights.
But anyway thats separate subject.
Ryu_Sheng 22. juli 2013 kl. 11:14
They dont have to give you anything, they clearly state you WONT get a second copy if you already own the game (unless you buy by gift). You could try and sue, but they'll just laugh you out of court and love the fact you end up bankrup when they turn around and sue you for legal costs
out4space 22. juli 2013 kl. 11:21
Somebody should tell Gabe, he might be really interested in this violation. /sarcasm.

Well its c r a p.
Btw Valve "should have" released a better offline mode.
They should have also added an age verification system for those countries where 18+ people have only access to cut games or even worse no access at all to certain titles or series.
They also should charge in one currency (either USD or EUR)
But its better to let EUR User pay 20%+ more for the same title.
English people can also change language of the same title to for example german, dutch or whatever.
So nobody can argue about localization costs or other cheap excuses (VAT is another cheap excuse).

They do not want to change it and its not that customers are running away.
Even if, they have their Valve EULA and tell you you must not use the service (hence we all know better that certain titles do NEED Steam as DRM).

Sad but true... so write to Gabe.

Don't want to know how many ♥♥♥♥ he gives about it.

Sorry I really hate the system, so i sometimes spank my mouth off about it :-P

I dont give a frack about what they state - their stratment violate basic principles of ownership and justice.
When you purchase book, you have one, when you purchase second book you have two identical books and no one can force you to destory second copy or cant take it away and you can do whatever you want with both copies, selle them destroye them, use them and so on, except for reproducing copies (however even this allowed if you copy made for FAIR USE) and thats forced by laws of every country, this is basic principle of ownershio. Same applies to physical copy of games on disck - if you paid for 2 copies you have to copies. What makes virtual copy of game any different? Nothing! Same rules and same principles of laws applies even to digital copies. If you paid twice for same game - you shout have 2 copies of it 100% of times you did with no exception. Valve just play legal bully, they know they violate laws and they know that most people would not give a frack to got to court to force Valve stop doing this. But trust me, once someone will go to court and sue Valve for this, they will no choice but obey laws and judge decison, And they have no chance to win in this case.

I would not write Gabe, if would write to judge when ill have time to deal with this issue, and judge will spank Valve's arse legaly, then Gabe will give a frack!
