I Love The Boss Battles Especially the First one.
Tuck yourself in beside the ammo locker and that sucker can't touch you then wipe him out with rockets and hand grenades. Generally it takes three or four times to get him if your fast, because the minute you stck you head out he gets you. That sucker has caused me more trouble than you can believe and I have yet to take him out on the hard setting.

Having to straight up fight the bosses = bad design decision.

For a game that advertised with freeform gameplay, indeed took upon itself the hallowed name of Deus Ex, this is almost unforgivable sin.

If you read between the lines in the dev interviews they regret the boss battles. They outsourced them to another company. :(

The boss battles themselves weren't that bad, even though one or two were surprisingly easy and others were annoyingly hard for me. I enjoyed them anyway. AFAIR none of the bosses had unexplainable plot armor (invulnerability) or used it as often as in ME3 (KL) .

What I found annoying was that the boss battles didn't meld in properly with how I, and others, had played the rest of the game up until then. Most of the boss battles started with your super-cautious and paranoid character suddenly just walking right out into the open without any regard to safety, so that the bad guys can get a drop on him and deliver some speech before starting the boss battle.

The boss battles were indeed outsourced. That's partly why The Missing Link was made the way it was, they addressed the issues fans had with forced boss battles. That said, as long as you think about what you're doing and don't try to Rambo your way to victory the boss battles are pretty easy in my opinion. They're also quite fun.

I didn't enjoy them too much. They were put in good places but they were too straight-forwarded, if done well you could kill them very quickly if done wrong you had to reload numerous times with nothing too much inbetween.

Furthermore I couldn't really relate with the bosses in terms of characte design - they were pretty shallow mercenaries you could easily replace with anyone else. They had no story background whatsoever and were stereotypics (big hard-boiled badass, cool-minded leader, silent sexy ♥♥♥♥♥). Fighting that Chinese Woman and her machine was better, but could be ended quickly as well and didn't have much too think and feel about afterwards either.

I loved Deus Ex HR but hated the boss battles. Spent hours getting the stealth down right, silent non lethal takedowns only where necessary, ghosting my way through, only to walk out and kill someone. The ending as well was a bit meh, but it was still a fun game to play. No where near as good as the original but okay.

TBH the only game i've found that came even close to the original is dishonored, cant wait for Dishonored 2

Not that i wouldnt buy antoher Deus Ex game if it was ever released either :D I would love to see a remake of the original buit in the HR engine. That would be awesome

Rambro'ing your way is possible providing you have godo weapons. Max modified revolvers works very well!

If you want to remedy this, I suggest reading the companion novel to DX:HR, the Icarus Effect. It takes place just before and right at the beginning of the events in DX:HR, and although there are other main characters that don't make an appearence in the game, a great deal of the book focuses on the Tyrants. You get substantially more invested in their characters and backstories, and for me, this really made the boss battles better. It obviously didn't address some of the gameplay issues, but I really felt like I knew who I was fighting and had a sense of accomplishment.

i didnt like the bossbattles on my first playthrough all too much. but with a little preperation and knowledge on the hardest difficulty they can be fun if you know what to do from the start.
