So how do I disable the ♥♥♥♥ing DLC?
I've been looking everywhere and I can't find any suggested solution. Last time I played this game I dropped the bonus weapons immediately and used cheat engine to hack the bonus money away. How ♥♥♥♥ing backwards isn't that? I had to counter-cheat to undo the game's cheating. But I really don't want to do the lame-♥♥♥ Tong bonus mission again; it was clearly left out of the full game for a reason.

Tong mission was very nice, why this rage?

I don't get your logic...
You complain about extra weapons, extra cash and an extra mission?
Are you a bad troll or something?
hghwolf, minced pork river 2013年2月10日 20時15分
I get his logic. Th extra weapons and cash are litterally bought power, a cheat for cash, which is abhorrent to real gamers, and if he doesn`t enjoy the DLC missions... then disabling it would be a good thing right ?

OP, I wish I could help you. I guess it never occured to the devs that people don`t want exactly what is in the game and DLC.

why did you buy it in first place if you didn't want it?

I'm not sure how I have it, possibly as a result of buying a Deus Ex bundle. Did not expect doing so would have this kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ consequence.

I've never had the DLC until this latest summer sale. Maybe if they were overpowered I'd feel the same way, but the weapons I've used so far (silenced sniper, double barrel, remote explosive, even the auto hacker) are all balanced.

The silent sniper lacks killing power for armored opponents. The double barrel is stupidly inaccurate at anything but point blank range. The auto hack and remote explosives take up a lot more room compared to the normal explosives and hack kits. I haven't found the grenade launcher yet but its going to have to be pretty powerful to be less balanced than the explosive revolver upgrade, especially considering how little room the revolver takes up.

The way I see it they were sold as DLC because they were non-essential enough to be turned into pre-order incentives. It's still a money grab but it's not on the same level as "free-to-pay" MMOs.

Obviously the extra cash is a big bonus at the beginning (both Detroit praxis kits paid for) but all that means to me is that I can take it easy on the early missions that I've already played a million times on new games I never finished without hacking every computer or searching every desk.

I didn't really find it crazy helpful or anything. Enough cash for two praxis kits and a useless but pretty shotgun. Meh. The rifle is really the best part, but ammo is a bit scarce for it in the beginning. Honestly I still think a fully upgraded pistol is the best gun in the game.

Believe it or not but some people would rather play without handholding.

I don't get the sense of the complaint. If the game is too easy, turn up the Difficulty. Or how about you just "not" use the guns or "not" spend all the money? If you didn't pay for this stuff you shouldn't even have it. If you do have it, why not use it and enjoy it or just neglect it? It seems like a very stupid thing to come and complain about. Normally people complain about content that's locked behind a paywall after already having paid for the game. Now they're complaining about having content they don't want???

Don't like don't use. Throw away. Too much money? Well buy something and throw away.
Next time do research.
Drain 2013年8月6日 2時01分
If you didn't want them, why pay for them in the first place?

This might be a little confusing for your beliefs but I believe an extra chapter and an extension to the story doesn't hold anyone's hand. In fact, it actually augments the experience of the true gamers who are big on the lore of Deus Ex.

You appear not to be as you have the GOTY original but have no hours on record on your profile. Something I suspected the second you thought that learning more of Tracer Tong is holding your hand.
Drain 2013年8月7日 21時09分
Just turn up the Difficulty. Then you will probably need all that stuff just to survive.

I have no idea why I'm suddenly getting notifications that this ancient thread has been dredged up. Anyway, to adress some of your responses;

* I bought the complete Deus Ex bundle not realizing that would saddle me with awful DLC that cannot be disabled.

* I can drop the bonus weapons and use cheat engine to get rid of the extra money, but it's annoying and frankly idiotic that I should have to do so. Why force cheats upon a player? And it's not like the game is hard enough to require that extra stuff on *any* difficulty.

* The Tong mission is complete crap and simply doesn't live up to the standard of quality set by the rest of the game. It was clearly left out of the base game for a reason and frankly the game feels more diluted for having it in it. And as a fan of the original DX, I really don't care for their portrayal of young TT.

I'm baffled that so many of you are *defending* this, as if the DLC is so good I shouldn't even be given the option to disable it.

1) Do research next time. Caveat Emptor.
2) Buy DLCs as gifts to avoid similar situation.
3) PPL defend those DLCs because they are decent DLCs for laughable money, and it's easy to get rid of those items.
4) Tong Mission is ok, it's just another mission to extend gameplay - treat it as a very low priced bonus.
5) Games these days are much easier than in the past and you should expect DLCs make games even easier. Games are no longer hobby for the few - they are BIG MONEY - why? Cause they reach the casuals.
6) I'm baffled You are making SUCH A HUGE deal of it. I understand You don't like it, but have you ever heard of a way to disable a DLC (except for Sleeping Dogs?). I haven't.
It's time to let go.
