Meh...
Edios Montréal are nice guys, but they're not the ones doing the porting. They didn't even do the PC port (that was Nixxes) nor the Mac port (Feral). I guess they could pay, say, Icculus Gordon to do that, but they're probably already to busy concentrating their efforts and funding on Thief.

There are plenty of skilled developers out there that master Linux and are more than capable of porting the game to Linux, especially since the Mac version already is using OpenGL. They could hire a bunch of them to do the porting, would get them at least one sale here and judging from the stats on here a whole lot more from fellow Linux gamers :)

Considering what's going on at Squenix recently, the chances of a Linux port is very low.

I'd like to see the native port to Linux, too. The game is great, and I don't want to dualboot just to play a game. Also, many developers like Double Fine, for example, now see the future of multiplatform development, so you can get all the profit you can.

Sure, there's a certain profit margin, but let's be honest : even when you look at the humble bundle, the stats for Linux are just a fraction of the others and I'm sure at least some of these have already bought the game and played it on windows (me included).

Compile the existing sourcecode against libwine or something and patch it up. It's not rocket science, and look around -- Linux is the future of PC gaming.

Porting a direct X game on linux requires quite a lot of refactoring, and while the Mac port does reduces the burden of porting the DirectX calls to OpenGL/OpenAL, you still need to replace every Windows only lib used by the engine by others that are avilable on linux, and that's when you don't need to code a replacement yourself (what makes Ryan Gordon such a good porter is that he possess a lot of experience in coding game libraries, being involved in SDL and others). Compiling agains winelib may cut it for smaller indie games like Limbo, but won't do the trick on anything that can't already run on wine.

I believe that is what libwine does. It thus wouldn't be compiled against the linux api, but the windows api via wine. This works well for quite a few titles, such as Dear Sophie (?) for which the linux version is simply the windows version compiled against cedegas wine fork.

My point is that while the ultimate solution is a truly native version, I believe most linux gamers would be quite happy with a version that work in linux and would be much less bothered with how it is compiled.

Dues Ex: Human Revolution is already ported to OS X, render is already rewritten in OpenGL. Porting to Linux would take just few days, according to Ryan Gordon (http://gamasutra.com/view/news/200997/QA_Understanding_the_future_of_Linux_game_development.php).

This is my dream - to have native DX:HR version on Linux. There are games I like very much (Portal 2, Tropico series, Civ 5 and X series with upcoming Rebirth) - developers of that games are porting them to Linux right now. Deus Ex Human Revolution is the only game from my favorites that doesn have upcoming Linux version. Yet.

Dear developers, please let this happen!
