play style options?

I've beaten this game. I tried doing a stealth run but it often got sloppy. Anyway I want to replay it but I was wonder how viable it would be just to play as a shooter. I know I made some noise at the police station the first time and thought it was ok, but upon leaving everyone was after me. This was literally game breaking and I didn't know a way around it so I had to revert to an old save.

thank you for giving me a chance to vent. there are many different way's to play thru, if you start one way passave or not you can change up tactic's as you go. best bet, save your game, before you exit any area. it help's to go back and try again, this next part is key, and my dumb friend is why i'm venting, what you do when you start this game, will determine how hard or easy the boss fight in fema will be, upgrade the wrong aug you die using the wrong weapon you die, killing for the sake of killing, will get you dead, kill who you have to, take what you need, you want to have fun in a fire fight, then befriend the right people first, fire a weapon in the cop shop, bad idea, the cop in the arnory is the only one you need to take out, no one goes back there to check on him. each cut-scene where there is a question and answer you go thru, you have 5-6 of which you must answer 3-4 rite, the wrong answer and your stopped cold, retry or contuine on. choose the latter and fight your way in and out. long story short the skill's and aug's you have or don't have will determine what happens when it happens and why. take on a side quest, wait till your mission is complete, and it's a different quest, this game is FPS/RPG you choose your style of game play. i'm sure you see my point. as for my dumb friend, again sorry for venting.

I usually like to mix playstyles, i allways try to be as stealthy as i can and diplomat :P, but when things go sour i also like to do some shooting and mess around with my enhancements, the game works better when you go stealth thou, the shooting mechanics are not stelar and enemy ai in combat mode is kinda weak, it can be hard if you play on give me deus ex because of sheer numbers, high resistence npcs who do a lot of damage (like one shot you with a shotgun at medium distance) It also depends on your augmentations and if your playing with a keyboard or a pad (the latter makes the game more challeging). I also try not to use any quicksaves and keep the game flowing no matter if i get discovered or not, it makes the game more challenging and gives you some funny outcomes

Play as a gun crazy madman because one of your implants is malfunctioning. So if anything moves shoot at it. Sometimes you will open fire for no reason at all.

that's funny, you must know my dumb friend, i told him what aug's to upgrade first, the weapons and nade's he needed to use, and why and how to use them to best beat the boss at the end of FEMA. needless to say he had none of the above when he got there, he is stopped dead in his track's, now he's calling me crying about getting his head handerd to him. refusing to do what i said, (go back and try again) on top of that he has a x-box controller and lack's the skill needed to move around using it, making any fire-fight much harder.

Thanks and I thought it was amusing. Some people don't pay attention to advice and end up learning the hard way. Then again learing from bad mistakes is somtimes the best way.

Good old barrett he is slow but tough i used all the explosive stuff on my inventory to kill him plus a combination of flashbangs and shotgun fire ,ohh and ran around like crazy dodging those dam grenades . I had just a few geek implants when i got there, good thing im a major hoarder in games , so my cyberpack was full of guns and explosives lol.

So even if you go stealthy you should always keep a certain firepower for the rough patches

Wow you kind of broke it down to be incredibly unfair really haha. "Do or die" What you're saying is from the perspective of someone whos already reached the end. Regardless of what you do the game shouldn't punish you really, maybe just change the story outcome not the difficulty. The game is just weird anyway. It doesn't really tell you much. Gunning up the police station ruins the game, after that any cop on the street attacks you and its all broken. I don't understand how that's ok. Upgrades are odd. Takes a while to get the first Praxis then when you do you're already deep into some trees by default, and other ones cost 2 Praxis initially which is weird. I'm just suppose to hold onto my 1 Praxis til I find another I guess. I'm at the police station now and I guess I'm just avoiding starting a firefight there, but still taking people out.

To be honest, I'd have to ignore your wisdom about it all and play it my own way, that's how it should be haha. If there's a certain combo you NEED to be viable then I'm calling this game broken.

I got my shotgun from preorder so using that. In my first stealthier playthrough I got rocket launchers and all that junk but had to throw it out because that totally didn't work for me, so maybe I'll use that stuff now.

my friend asked for help that's what i told him, without trying he said that didn't work, then don't use it. i told him. point being don't ask for help and refuse to use it, then ask again for more advice, when he's stuck in the same place (how do you help someone like that) ??

It's different kind of. Games are supposed to be played different ways with lots of options. If you tell someone they need say a machine gun with a certain 3 upgrades to be able to finish the last boss, it just isn't fair. It's like having free will but being told later you don't.

What a dump, they are all console games now. IA mentally retarded, difficulty calibrated on joypad, boring to play with mouse and keyboard is easy to play even the most difficult level.

since i posted here, my friend has not picked up his controllor to play deus ex, i really enjoyed playing HR, and i feel sad for my buddy cause barrett kicked his butt, maybe he'll try once more
