I've reistalled it 3-4 times and I have the same problem. Never even starts. Got in a bundle which saved me money, but what is the point if it doesn't even work.

yea i will not buy from steam anymore. I will be buying a hard copy from now on. Thanks for the fist bumb

Yeah, the worst part is that this happens with multiple games. I have 40-50 titles and 4-5 do not work. Why did I even bother.

what type of anti virus you got?
Kauldwin Jun 18, 2015 @ 8:56pm
The game is not broken. (And even if the game were broken, it would be the publisher's fault, not Steam's.) Thousands of users are able to start and play DXHR without a problem. You're not being ripped off. There is some configuration problem/conflict with your system.

PC gaming requires a lot of experimentation. Yeah, it's nice when your game just works right away, but there are so many hardware and software configurations that it's unrealistic to expect every game to work for everybody without some tweaks. DXHR worked fine for me. OTOH, I had to spend hours tweaking to get the Director's Cut to run smoothly.

Now, if you want help to try to get the game running, try the standard 3 fixes (update your drivers, verify the game cache, reinstall the game), and if none of those work, post your system specs to see if anybody has suggestions/solutions.

check your anti virus isnt scanning your games folder mine used to tag a game file exe at a virus and auto quarantine it

kAULDWIN you dont know nothing. I never have a problem with the a hard copy of anygame Except win i buy through sTEAM. I build my pc systems my self. What i have in this is ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition, 64 gig G-skill, 2 in sli 780 TI, water cooling system, 6 of the fastest SSD's, running with a ASUS ROG PG278Q Black. already gone through the anti virus thing and uninstall and reinstall over and over. I NEVER said the game is broken. I dont need to blow smoke kid. I been doing this and setting up networks for over 20 years.

All that is nice; however, the fact still remains that there's a configuration problem or software conflict on your end. If you feel you have a conflict with Steam, try disabling the cloud saves; that seems to have worked for some people. I know there was also a DirectX issue where people were having to run the game with DX9, but I think that was mostly framerate problems and not non-starting. Another common suggestion is deleting the .exe file and the steamapi.dll and validating the cache.

Or continue to rant, that will definitely get your game working.

Wow 7Sammiches that's an awesome sounding build! I've only recently got an i5 and gtx 970 and 16gb ram, just re-installed the game myself, and it runs fine for me - bought in 2011 through steam not hard copy (win 8.1 64-bit)

Where did you buy the bundle? If it was on steam itself you could always try the Steam Refund...

Newegg.com best prices and no taxes. I have spent at least 20 grand there over 10 years.
Dont why mine doent work tried everything and I miss that game. Its gotta be on my end somewhere?

Do not blame a digital distributor for your own PC problems. I have never had a game purchased through steam fail, unless it was a bug with the game itself. Thanks to steam, and the clear channels of communication it creates between players and devs, those are always patched quickly.

To reitirrate; don't blame others for your shortcomings.
