DEUS EX Human Revolution 7GB Update?

Hi, I just installed HR from the retail DVD and wanted to start the game. Now it says an update is requiered and downloads 7GB of Data. What Kind of Update is that? Does anyone know? I own the Deus Ex Human Revolution not the Director´s Cut. Do I have to update when I buy the Director´s Cut?

Update is the ~5 patches that came out since the release of original Deus Ex: HR 1.0, which is what I assume you got on your physical DVD copy.

As with all programs nowadays, games have lots of files that are compiled into a single file(s) - i.e. .xml. Even when minor changes are made to these files to fix bugs and whatnot for patches, the entire file often needs to be replaced. That's why patches can be a large % of the original game size. A change in one line of one file might require changing other files as well. Varies from game to game just based on how the developers coded & organized the game.

And yes I believe the Director's Cut has a >1GB patch that's come out since release, I don't think its as big as 7GB - only 1 patch has come out for the DC so far.
