How does the stealth ACTUALLY works?
I thought, enemies cant see you when you are not in their line of sight or behind cover. But on multiple occasions (in first 2 missions!) enemied, who stood in fron of me on the other side of cover, actually detected me while sticked to cover. WTF?! And peaking is basically same as jumping out to the open, they can immidiatelly see you. Then i tried NOT to stick to cover and just stay crouched behind it (not being able to see a damn thing) and you can probably guess how that ended up. And all that on lowest difficulty. What am i missing?
For now i play by just sprinting through the room to exit, since gunplay feels like from a flash game, and that is not fun.

Actually, thats why i ask how stealth works, because i want to do it, but game does seem to be having different idea of it, therefore, im not using it...

stealth only really works from a distance, if there standing on the other side of a box your using as cover, they will see you, cloak work's best for sprinting thru a room, move cover to cover, pick your target, control the room

there are alot of places to take cover, box's, barrels, dumpsters, can's, car's, you get the idea. you upgrade your aug's to suit your game-play, there are 10+ praxis kit's in detroit alone

I'm also in the beginning but even though there are multiple enemies in the room, you can take them out one by one without the others knowing.

Now, now, let's not be hard on the poor OP...

To play a stealth strategy, it requires a great deal of patience. Before entering a space (whether a room or open area), take a look at the radar map to see what you are up against: number of nearby enemies, their location, search patterns, and direction they are looking. Also, make use of the "cover" function judiciously, especially with "crouch" to keep your profile small and movement silent (it also allows you to see the space from a "3rd person" perspective).

Look at your surroundings and note where all the best points of cover there are in the space--the higher the better (too shallow and they WILL see you). While using the "cover" function, the game allows you to stealthily and quickly turn around corners while maintaining cover or slipping from one cover point to a nearby other cover point.

Again, the key is patience. Make sure the guards patrolling are facing away from you before you make your move to your objective, whether it is to slip past them, or taking them out one by one quietly.

If you intend to take down a guard, make sure there are no witnesses, and quickly move the unconscious or dead body into a place of cover. If someone sees the body, it's game over for your stealth tactics. Using a tranquilizer rifle is a good quiet way to remove a guard from a distance, but the disadvantage is that there is a risk that he will be seen--so if you choose to do it, make sure he will fall behind something.

Keep an eye out for cameras, and pay attention to their directional coverage on the radar (you'll see it pivot). If a camera sees you (yellow/amber), you have a few seconds before it alerts the guards (red), so get out of sight as quickly as possible until it is green. Bots and turrets will also be an issue, and follow the same pattern as the cameras, except you have less time (and they'll shoot at you). Avoiding cameras, turrets and bots are especially important if you are going for the "Foxiest of the Hounds" achievement.

If a guard sees you for a brief period, there's no need to panic yet. Usually, he will change from "normal" to "Alarm" and go to the last point where he saw you. This can be useful if you want to distract the guard long enough to move somewhere else or break him away from his friends. However, if you are not completely out of sight and he confirms his visual of you, he goes from "Alarm" to "Hostile" and all bets are off. Be wary of this tactic, however, because there are some situations where the guards are in permanent "alarm."

Spending Praxis Kits on certain augmentations will help with a stealth strategy. Cloak is the obvious choice, but it isn't perfect as it drains power and they'll still hear you if you run cloaked. There are "run silent" and "fall silent" augs, better radar telemetry, and hacking. Spend enough on hacking and you can make movement easier by turning off cameras, turrets an bots.

Actually one of the BEST stealth games i've ever played.

Stealth works, but ANYTHING you're doing....you're making noise. (When you unlock the augment to see that, you'll find out more).

You'd want to stay crouched whenever in an area with enemies. In every area theres always multiple ways (3+) to go from point A to B, tons of vents and vantage points.

P.S. Sprinting is like driving a bulldozer with the horns on 24/7 through a room.

OP - if you are referring to the mission in the Sarif Plant (after the tutorial) - chances are you were hiding behind some of the counters that don't entirely cover you for the whole length. You need to stay behind the bigger boxier parts at either end if you wish to remain hidden. Hope that helps!

Also - there are no way any rooms with 10 guards in them in the opening mission! :P
